Which would you rather:

1) a nickname after a brownlow medalist and all time legend of the game

2) a nickname after the lame bald dude from Sunrise who thinks he's funny but he ain't

I couldnt care less if Skilton won 20 Brownlows with "chimp" as his nickname.

He can keep it.

Cotchin deserves a better nickname than that. Its demeaning.

Anyway I'm sure the players have a nickname for him and that's all that counts.

I can guarantee you "chimp" or "Chimp kazoo" or any other stupid variable will not catch on.

I'm sure you're right so what's the problem ? Is it a full moon or something ? I really can't understand the angst. It would be nice to see the same sort of uproar when some of our boys called labled "dud" in PRE.

Go The Chimp

Geeze what could be more demeaning than chimp for a nickname.
Bunghole, Horse, Tripod, Piggy, Gasometer, Ranga, there's millions of them to crude to print. Nicknames are generally affectionately insulting and the receiver is anointed as a sign of friendship, so what's the problem.

I vaguely recall an interview with one of the players (can't remember who) who made a joke about how hairy he is.

Just cos he's going to be a champion doesn't mean team mates and fans can't keep it real.

There's no ME in TEAM !

Exactly, it's not what is said, but how it is said and the look on the face saying it that matters.
