Trouble in paradise..

When saying "we're locked and loaded" wallace didn't factor in our magnificent injury run this year and also our minimal suspensions. I think we only had 1 suspension from memory. Would have been interesting to see how the year panned out if we had a few more injuries.

it would have panned out closer to last year if we had more injuries like we did last year, unsurprisingly. we've always had minimal suspensions under wallace so no change there.

magnificent injury run? coughlan, polak, thursfield, brown, polo, even cotchin may have made a difference early in the season. the main difference between last year and this was obviously the injuries to simmonds.

Our depth is still a real concern.

agree. but it's not going to improve in the short term unless we trade for mature players which no-one, including me, wants. only time(3 years) will fix our depth.

It is a remarkable statement from someone that is at best genuinely delusional or at worst disingenous. You can add the extremely unhealthy reliance on Richardson, Simmonds, Brown and Bowden all of whom are near the end (how many matches would we have won without them?), and especially in the case of Richardson and Simmonds there are no obvious replacements. Frankly it's hard to imagine any list so deficient in Ruck, KPP, and inside midfield stocks being 'locked and loaded'. Again if one were to be charitable in the mist of such negligence, the sobering conclusion must be that he still holds to the philosophy that a team of skinny flankers is the wave of the future. Personally I think it's all about saving his skin and getting a contract extension, even if it means trading away picks for short term gain. Sadly neither conclusion inspires much confidence for what remains of Wallets tenure at Tigerland.

:clap Luckily for us the Board can see through his spin as well.

I must admit to agreeing with March's 5/10. We played some good footy and some rubbish footy, typical of a young side really. We had a very good draw from the perspective of how many times we played bottom/beatable teams. While I haven't checked we are unlikely to have such a good draw next year, so eigth or higher will be a challenge.

I think Wallace has been a good coach for the club, but I think he is gone next year and I get really concerned when I hear recently retired players (Buckley) being touted as coaches or heaven forbid dinos like Sheedy or Matthews.

Still Buckly with both Sheeds and Matthews as mentors/player development for twelve months - that could be a goer, and worth spending the money on.

Interesting that since the PR debacle over the Miller sacking, there has not been a public peep about Freezer and his role. In spite of the silence (which is a good thing) I would think that he still continues to play an important an dactive role in representing a view to teh rest of the board on what he thinks the football department needs.

I have been a harsh critic of Gary over the Miller affair and rightly so imo. However I would like to give him some massive credit over this issue. He has got it 100% correct.

About time someone stood up to the egotisitical, selfish and short sighted trading decisions Wallace and co have been hinting about this year, even though it is a year too late (McMahon). Under no circumstances should we allow our first 2 picks to be traded with the talent in the draft this year.

Also fantastic that he has backed Craig Cameron over Wallace to make these calls.

Keep it up Gary I will be backing you on this one.

Agree. I'm sure if Cameron was behind the McMuffin selection Wallace would have dropped hamburgler within the first month.
Wallace, just stick to the coaching ;)

I found a rather strange article on the Richmond FC website that got posted up a couple of hours ago........

Am I reading too much into this but what is the point of this article exactly? Is Wallace trying to prove a point somehow?

Either it's been removed or that link is wrong. What did it say #7?

Woops sorry.........here it is

The Richmond side that thumped Melbourne by 80 points in the final home-and-away round of the 2008 season at the MCG last Sunday contained only five players who were members of the Tiger team which contested Danny Frawley’s last game as coach, in Round 22, 2004.

Joel Bowden, Daniel Jackson, Matthew Richardson, Jay Schulz and Greg Tivendale were the “survivors” from that Frawley farewell match of ‘04, which took place against the Sydney Swans.

Of the other 17 players in the Richmond line-up that day, just four have remained on the Club’s list in 2008 – Nathan Brown, Mark Coughlan, Chris Hyde and Andrew Raines.

The other 13 – Justin Blumfield, Wayne Campbell, Mark Chaffey, Tim Fleming, Darren Gaspar, Ray Hall, Brent Hartigan, Andrew Kellaway, Andrew Krakouer, Ben Marsh, Billy Nicholls, David Rodan and Luke Weller – have all departed Punt Road since Terry Wallace took over the coaching reins.

Only four other players from the 2004 senior list are still at Tigerland today – Kane Johnson, Chris Newman, Kayne Pettifer and Shane Tuck.

With Tivendale having played his last game for Richmond, in last Sunday’s Round 22 clash with Melbourne, the extent of the Club’s list-management changes over the past four years really hits home . . .

Bit of pro-Wallace propaganda you reckon? Does seem a bit out of left field.

I don't appreciate that being posted.

I just finished my therapy getting over a lot of those names. :veryupset

I feel a relapse coming on.
