PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Just reading through through the three most crucial players thread and it exceedingly obvious that most think our no1 ruckman Troy Simmonds will be critical to our improvement next season and beyond.

Troy has just completed the third year of his five year deal and as we know had severe problems with a broken ankle last season topped off my a life threatening lung condition.

Now I hate to bring doom and gloom to the place but this post from pharace had me genuinely concerned about our chances leading into next year.

Facinated by all the talk about Simmo. His illness was that serious that there is a small chance that he won't be back at all - and even if his big heart gets him on the track - I reckon he might be all season getting some fitness back - that is why our ruck stocks are as critical as any at anytime!

If Troy doesn't get back to the fine form he showed in 2006 then we are pretty much stuffed.
Pattison is a workhorse but not an effective tap ruckman. Angus Graham is as raw as sushi.
They are both unlikely to help our ruck situation.

As a reminder we came dead last by some considerable distance in the hitout column last year.

Those stats are frightening and had a direct correlation with out performance last season.

Does anyone close to the club know where Troy is at with his health?
It's imperative that we get this player back on deck.

If we don't then I have major concerns about our prospects in '08 & '09.
