Tuck & Hyde Must Go...

I have my suspicions about Connors, I don't think he will give us the return in the long run. Early to call I know, but I hope he isn't labelled the 'one trick pony'.
On what are you basing this early call gpb?

Are you questioning his attitude over a journey, or is it a skill thing for you.

I remember this very call on Kingy after his first game - the damning calls of not being up to it were deafening. Has been very good so far injecting skills and determination not seen for years at this club!

If (and it's a big if) he can get his fitness to a very high level, he will become our best player in a very short time. Heven't seen Cotchin yet, but there hasn't been a kid with so much class at our club for a very long time. The club should pull him from normal training and put him on a specific training regime that busts his gut each and every session to the point where he spews. He doesn't need any training with the ball, his skills are natural.

Agree. Needs to be fastracked. Like I said if Hyde is only going to play 60 minutes a week why can't a semi fit Connors do that.

There was a game Coburg played last year that was telecasted on TV, the camera panned to the opposition huddle during one of the breaks, and heard the opposition coach tell his players that they had to watch out for Connors because he was tearing them apart and he specifically mentioned to them to "watch out for his one trick", and that was his famous trademark, show the ball to the opposition and then stepping the other way (the experts here get the drift).

As much as I would admire Connors to play 300 games for the Y&B, I feel that he needs to add more tricks to his game, for starters because he'll get caught out in the 'big' league. Second, as mentioned by Harry, his fitness level has been an issue, I would no doubt believe that this deficiency has been addressed to Connors. This bloke will add grunt in the midfield (a very demanding position if you ain't up to scratch fitness wise), and no doubt we are all crossing our fingers he gets his body right. Thirdly, I'm more worried about him relying on that left foot of his. Watching him play last weekend he favoured the left foot of his strongly, he needs to be unpredictable in the AFL, especially when his opponent knows his weak side, you people know what I mean - Tivendale! Lastly, as mentioned by Pharace is his attitude, it has been 'rumoured' that he has been involved in a misdemeanor and suspended by Coburg, I don't know how true that is but if it correct, then the kid needs close attention.

Overall, these weaknesses doesn't necessarily mean he can't be a consistant player for us, I just feel he has more of a mountain to climb to become successful.

Anyway this is the Tuck & Hyde thread.

Make you wonder what has happened to Tuck.
In his first year under Wallace he was fantastic but has quickly dropped off. Either he has lost interest or carring a injury.

Seems to have coincided with Cogs getting injured

Tucks re signing for 2 years so early was a huge error especially with a superdraft coming up this year, and the Tigers wont be able to delist him now if he has a shocking year thats one less kid.

Disagree with most of the comments about Tuck on this thread including your contract issue Craig for one reason. Bodyshape. We don't have players coming through with a comparable bodyshape to Tucks. Who else is going to play the ruck rover position? Cogs on one knee? Sugar/Hyde/Tivva - don't make me laugh.

We don't have any genuine grunty ruck-rovers coming through. They certainly won't have the mass and strength they need to compare to Tuck for the full length of that two year contract.

Hyde/McMahon/Tivva and Sugar I would be just as happy not seeing in the ones and Raines better find his feet this season or he can join that list.

Spot on bretto :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

Re Tuck's contract stopping us getting one extra kid. That is such an absolute *smile* statement.

Tragicaly the one thing, as always, this Richmond list isn't short of are players who could be delisted. The only argument is in trying to pick which of the mediocre players who haven't really produced is worth retaining over another mediocre player without an AFL standard game who hasn't really produced.

If Santa Claws had his way all you would need is a pin, a list of RFC players and a blindfold to select those who should be delisted. (Slight exaggeration but close enough)

How about Deledio? The fastest, strongest, most skillful player at the club?
Has he got the right 'bodyshape' to play ruck rover?

The point here is he was tearing them apart, one trick or not. My biggest query on Connors as some have mentioned is his motor. He doesn't seem to be able to run out a game. Hopefully it's something that can be rectified because if it is he is going to be a great plyaer for the Tiges.

The one with more grunt like Tuck.

I reckon you wouldn't get a taker for Rainse, Tuck or Hyde.
Petts might go to a team lacking a HFF but that's about it. Morton will make him look 2nd rate

I mentioned this last year, that the club should have tried and get something for Raines whilst he still held some currency on the open market because I dare say by the end of this year clubs will have caught on that he is no where near what he was hyped up to be. I have never seen a guy give away so many free kicks inside fifty that directly result in shots on goal. Let's take this time whilst he is injured to see who else we have!
