Tuck in the Ruck Today, What was that about?

Knobel got 24 hit outs today playing completely underdone after returning from injury. Every other ruck option was injured, Polak could have gone in there, but then we would have weakened the defence. Can't see how Knobel let the team down, god some people write some crap in here.

He may have got 24 hit outs but how many times were they directed in our favour? hit out stats are worth nothing, its a bit like shots on goal, umless you are making them count whats the point?

What are you saying? We should have played Tuck in the ruck all day and he is better then Knob?

Using Tuck in the ruck was an 'out there' experiment to see if he had the potential to be a back up if needed one day. You can afford to do this in preseason games as there are no real consequences of failure (except the wrath of some PREenders ;) ). You have to be creative and not risk averse to know what you're really capable of.

Thought Tuck aquited himself quite well. Got me thinking that one day Carl Peterson is going to play that role often and quite effectively with his fabulous virtical leap.

Tuck must not have been too impressed with his role as he chose not to hand slap Knobel when they swapped off the bench. Though in Tucky's defence he looked like he was going to cough up a lung he was so spent.

When we were winning the centre breaks take note of who was rucking for us at the time.

I have not seen any stats to back me up but I dont recall us winning many centre breaks at all!

I think we won the first 8 centre clearances of the game...not sure after that.

The problem with playing Tuck as the ruckman was that Ling monstered everyone else that he played on in the middle whilst Tuck was contesting the bounce. Remember, there was no Johnson or Coughlan either.

Selection left a fair bit to be desired. It has been reported that Schulz and McGuane were both playing for Coburg. They would have been handy yesterday, even if they only played 5-10 minutes per quarter. McGuane has played before as an undersized ruckman for Coburg.

Its a real shame that our ruck recruit Petersen was injured. This would have been a perfect game to trial him in the senior team.

Maybe Terry just got his name and position mixed up. Not explaining it ok!
