Tuck to be dropped

And so ends Tuck's run of 104 consecutive matches. Hasn't missed a game since Frawley was in charge.

Other controversial omissions of seemingly permanent fixtures in the team have had mixed epilogues.

Joel Bowden, 2004, after 136 consecutive games - won b&f same year

Matthew Knights, 2002, after 99 consecutive matches - retired after four more games

"Tuck leads Richmond in many key statistical categories.

He is a clear No. 1 in disposals, hardball gets and contested possessions, sits second in handballs received and uncontested possessions and has laid the third-most tackles for the Tigers.

Tuck's 121 hardball gets is the most in the AFL - 17 more than Geelong star Gary Ablett."

Herald Sun

Pretty tough on the bloke really.

I think this is more to the point Ian. I suggest he has obviously strayed from a task given and Jade is showing it wont be tolerated no matter who you are.

If thats he case its long overdue IMHO.

I wonder if the club is toying with offering Tuck up for trade.

Perhaps they are having a look to see if Cogs or Thompson are capable of playing his role.

That's all bloke stuff, Freezer. Not useful in a football team.

Anyways. Last time we played Esserden, Jackson was so smashing Jebroni Watson (one of the top few in the comp for strength over the ball) that at one stage he just took the football off him and ran away with it - the ultimate humiliation.

That would usually have been Tuck's job against the Dumbers. And it's covered. So if we want to put some heat on Tuck's use or some other aspect of his gaem this would be a good week to do it. And I fully cred the rumour that Tuck *smile* up on his instructions last week.

As has been mentioned, Tuck is a fine aerial option up forward and could play there at AFL level comfortably. BTW a fine set shot. And it should be noted that his crumbing skills, tackle breaking and snapping are surprisingly advanced. It's that he's multi dimensional that makes him useful up forward. So the weaknesses of his midfield game are much less significant in this role.

We've finally made the right choice - get rid of Wallace; keep the footballers. I reckon Tuck will be back.

Agree. The other variable up forward is as third man up. Admittedly, the work is occasionally indiscriminate, but he gets his hand on it more often than not.

we'll be chasing plenty of essendon tails on the weekend. getting the ball is an important aspect, you need the hard men to get in there and extract it out, to the seagulls hanging around the packs, who then should ahve the skills, pace, vision, poise to deliver and hit a target. yeah sure its good for an extractor to have these attributes too, but goin in hard and getting the ball out is not something that many players can/have the heart to do.

If we're chasing tails so be it. At least Essendon players will have to get their own ball rather than have it handed to them on a platter by players who cant distinguish colours. Once again Tucky has been serviceable but Im interested in seeing how we handle games without Foley and Tuck in there.

Although I reckon Tucky gets a raw deal here, if the selection committee are making a statement about a player not following instructions - then well done :clap lets hope to see less pussy-footing around and talk of cliques and favourites... for a team not blesses with classy stars in making, our best chance for success is with well drilled, uncompromising team-orientated players

I don't mind tucky, but I did see him commit the typical sin of the tiger when running from half back down the wing, handballed it to (I think) Newman and DIDN'T SHEPPERD THE OPPOSITION WHO WAS A METRE AWAY, thus putting his team mate under unecessary pressure. Instead he peeled away for the return handball in a position that would have been under even more pressure. A really dumb piece of play.

Tuck never shephards.

I remember the Cats game at Skilled when he let the Geelong player just go past him and crunch our player.

He is a dumb footballer.

Got told that Tuckie will be dropped this week as Jade the Blade is saying he was a big part of the reason for the draw against the Roo's.

Will be interesting to see if this eventuates tonight at the selection table

Football is a game of unrewarded (individual) hard running, running to space so others have space behind you, running to shepperd, running to tackle .....no stats in it, but the team benefits.

Something we never ever seemed to do under TW.
If we are now making this statement :clap

Good that the club is making a statement, But a bit tough on Tucky though

Watch the burgers match now on Tuck has not taken it well, playing like a leper.

Tuck has had about 8 touches, looks very poor and is still doing those stupid handballs that puts his teammates under immense pressure.... still playing dumb football. He won't get a game for Richmond next week off the back of this performance.

Is Cameron part of the match committee, as all these changes of late smell very much, like they are coming from someone, who is having a good look at the list?

i agree. he'a an underated player and is a better kick than what most of youo think... most of his possessions are in heavy traffic which skews his efficiency stats... but in saying that, i'm not against him being dropped for not following team rules or to try someone else in his position at this stage of the season.

so bloody true :frustration

Didn't miss him one bit and with Foley and Collins to come after injury, dunno when he will be back.
