Just wondering what other people who saw the collision think. I didn't really see the incident at the game, only saw the umpire (Matthew Nicholls?) on the ground. But after watching the replay I reckon someone might be in trouble. Shouldn't be Tucky...he was watching the ball/ruck contest and was clearly pushed into the umpire by McLean. All Tucky can be accused of is cutting it a bit fine by trying to run on that angle between McLean and the umpire. IMHO McLean could be in strife. He's stiff if he is (he was also looking at the ball and I would've thought he's allowed to push/fend Tucky off lightly in that situation), but it was pretty heavy contact and I'm not sure I can see the MRP just letting this one go. Any thoughts?

Acker was in the SEN box doing the game and he claims that the AFL made a ruling about deliberately pushing players into the mouldy maggots because Simon Black used to do it to his taggers all the time.
The consenus was that Brocky might be in trouble. Not sure if it rates a fine or spending a lap or two in the pits.

Just saw on channel 10 that Tuck (yes, TUCK) got fined. Unbelievable. Not sure how much and obviously it's not gonna affect the team but if I were him I'd be telling them to get stuffed and exhausting all avenues of appeal.

I havent seen it but it was good to see that umpire on the ground. I hate him.

It's worth a look checkside...he got a mouth full of dirt that was dug up by the rugby boys the night before :hihi

Unbelievable!

Shane Tuck, Richmond, has been charged with a Level One offence for making negligent contact with umpire Matthew Nicholls during the third quarter of the Round 12 match between Richmond and Melbourne, played at Telstra Dome on Sunday June 15, 2008.

In summary, he can accept a $1950 sanction with an early plea.

A first offence for making negligent contact with an umpire is a $2600 sanction. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a $1950 sanction

....

Contact between Melbourne's Brock McLean and Richmond's Shane Tuck, behind umpire Matthew Nicholls, from the third quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. The Match Review Panel deemed that Tuck negligently made contact with umpire Nicholls. Just prior to contact, Tuck was standing directly behind the umpire, pushing on McLean. McLean was pushing back on Tuck. Because both players were pushing against each other, Tuck stayed in a line directly behind the umpire, where contact was eventually made. The MRP believed that Tuck would have made contact with the umpire even if the players weren't pushing against each other. It was not the view of the Panel that McLean pushed Tuck directly into the umpire. Therefore McLean was not reported and no further action was taken against him.

MRP believed Tuck would have made contact anyway? They are making things up now? ???

FMD.

If I could watch the game on bigpond without it stoppring every 5 seconds I might be able ot see the incident, but if I do watch the game on Bigpond I might be able to respond in about a week's time.

Joke and joke.

It was interesting to see the umpire flat on his face for what seemed like ages, I thought he was down for the count! Thought players might have started running over the top of him cause he started to blend into the grass and dirt.
