Turning the heat up on Tivendale, Hilton, Krakouer and Chaffey.

I am amazed that so many people say Hilton's best position is the backline.
I have never agreed with this.

Dixon had 2 goals on Hilton in 5 minutes last Sunday.
Dixon is a milk dud left in the sun!
What next?? Calls to recruit Dixon?!!

Didn't Dixon also kick 3 on Chris Newman, who people rate as a superstar, when he is just a battler, who only gets noticed cause he does the kick outs.

That's right Kath. Newman did leak, again, on the weekend. He gets credit because he's one of the few good users by foot on the list. And sometimes he is VERY good by foot. It's not just the kickouts.

Has been flogged a few times this year. I suppose Brad Johnson was the most disappointing. Should have been an ideal matchup and he couldn't produce. I know Johnson is an outstanding player but that's Newman's job- to nullify outstanding players.

At the start of the year I said we should play him forward, HFF. He's a constructive player and genuine, so he'll chase and man up. We know he can struggle in defence and he's not good enough for a regular midfield berth, ATM. He's a good learner with determination.

Let's get some experienced defensive smalls in the off season (no Alvey FFS!). They are dime a dozen. And then we can try Chris forward to see if he's going to make it. Or we could make a call on it early.

He could go either way from here, IMO.

Dead set true on Newmo,

He's a good user, honest as the day is long, but by geez he's copped some beltings this year.

Deep in defense is def not his go.................

Leysy thinks a wing.......Read: Michael Gale or Darren Millane.

wallace has rated newman as one of his most improved and i appreciate his value too but also him as a good quality trade.

if we traded newy we'd get a good pick or a decent youngster.

he's not really nailing it in defence...there's blokes ahead of him in the midfield and forward line.

he could be tradeable for a young full back about the same age.

Newy, hyde morrison moore and the 4 blokes in the title could all be considered at trade time.

Newman definately has improved, I'm not denying that, but he is still a long way from some of the statements that I've read on PRE this year. I've watched him quite closely since his arrival at Punt Road. When he first arrived I thought he would be lucky to gain a contract beyond his first 2 years.

If there is another club willing to take Morrison I'd be extremely surprised. Is quite good at VFL level, but unfortunately I don't think he can stand up at seniors level. Similar to Royce Vardy.

Kicked 2 on Rory in 5 minutes. Took longer to kick 2 on Newy. Then kicked one on Gaspar.
Feel free to search some old Hilton threads on PRE. Some of us have been singing the same tune for ever.I am not going to go over on old ground again, but this post of struggles nailed it....
Struggs quote.. "Beside being not fit enough over his career, flying for marks from behind when out of position resulting in giving away free kicks, doing u-turns into trouble when in possession and being a generally loose backman and unaccountable forward Im not to sure Kimmmmoy.

It seems not every one agrees with you either
"

And you can add to the above list
: Kick-chasing when playing as a defender.
: Getting caught out spectating the play.
: Lack of pace.

Same things that many of us have agreed on over the years.
We will have to agree to disagree on Rory with the likes of yourself and DDT.

TD, he is an average player and is CURRENTLY NECESSARY for the team no matter what.

What about his tackling compared to others in our team ?

TF I also believe he will be kept because he is in that age bracket TW seeks.
Don't agree with it, but will have to accept it.
IMO he plays forward or nowhere. Backline doesn't suit due to the reasons already posted above.
Tackling is good. Krak is a good tackler also. But they are both slow.

Just 1 or 2 years on condition he performs to a required level is what I think he'll get.

He's been lazy under the previous coaches but he's aware he can't take it easy under Wallace.

If these 4 went for extra reasonable draft picks, we could really set the club up with a powerful list for year 2008.

:clap :clap :clap

Well said Phantom. Lets not be short sighted. Don't worry about 2006 worry about 2008 when we have developed our own decent 22-25year olds.

hes a proven dud why anyone would want to give him another year is beyoind me.cmon terry open your f*&^%$#g eyes up.

Unfortunately if we cant get a decent draft pick for Hilton then we will keep him on our list for another year. Totally agree with strugglemania in that he is giving away many easy kicks to his opponents  when down back, wont chase his opponent when down forward and desperately wants to take mark of the year. This type of player will not win a premiership for the RFC in the forseeable future.

Hilton should not be delisted. But if a trade becomes available we should take it.

Even a 4th round pick Crackerbarrell ?? ;D

If we have to give em a fourth rounder, it's worth it. ;D
