I mean you claim all fault is with the midfield, but now say no to improving or finding out if we can make improvements.

Nope, I just believe in most apprentice onballers having a couple of years in a defensive or attacking role where they can contribute until their body is at full size...it's pretty much standard operating procedure in all sides. And as others have said, I believe that having attacking defenders who can run lines and win their own ball is almost as valuable as having players who can do that in the centre.

I agree with you, but when a team is losing, they need to change and try things. we may not have the iuxery, to keep him their.

I also agree clearing from the midfield is our biggest problem. we are not clean and have to just bomb it forward. I think Raines busts and use of the ball could go some way to fixing this.

Him running right off Foley and Tuck and Co. has me excited.

Playing Raines in the middle is robbing Peter to pay Paul.
......... and Mary ;)

Wait until we have a backline which can function without him.

I think we should start him off next game, give it 1 quarter, if the team isn't getting flogged or heavens behold leading then make the descision to move him back.

I as a fan would just love the oppurtunity to see him in the middle.

As the year is over, sooner rather than later would be better.

Hes the shining light at the Tigers ( well the brightest of a few)

TW show us how the future is bright starting with this soon to be superstar in the middle.

There is always next year. I think TW said on WLF that he might get a gig next year in the centre.

I think I understand why TW is holding him in the back half. Our best kick Newman is out our other running backman Harts gone, our only skillful KKP Thursifeld.

if Raines goes to the midfield we have no one who can break a line in the back half. I think injuries have forced TW's hand here but with the season just about gone we may see him get a little run on the ball.

He will be a midfielder no doubt about it.

Leaving him in the backline for the rest of the season will also help him win the Rising Star award.

The more recognition our young stars get the better for their confidence and the Club's image.

the only question you need to ask is raines capable of playing a midfield role. the obvious answer to that is damn right he is. a rotation i have wanted to see since early in the season is deledio polo and raines rotating of hb thru midfield. we are in a development stage rainsey is very much in a learning stage so lets develop a player who is capable of playing in many positions. at the end of next yr we will be expecting him to take on some leadership responsibilites we are not in a position to tread softly with our kids.

I heard an interview about this very question with TW.
He said the reason he isn't shuffling Raines from his position just yet, is that given how decimated our defence has been already, he (probably along with JB) has been the only consistant defender we've had all season.
He was loathe to change that at this stage of his development, because he was doing a great job in the role and also didn't want to mess with his progression at this early stage by playing him in too many positions.

Made a lot of sense to me.

No doubt he will end up there, no doubt.

Lids, Raines, Tambling and Polo should be all having major roles on the ball in 2007 and by 2008 by our top tier midfielder.

Correct fellow allergy sufferer - he is needed down back at the moment but will to interesting to see if he can blitz out of midfield next year.

Will be interesting next year once the opposition pay more attention to him how he copes.
