Tyrone Vickery

At first I though yuk
Then worked on it a bit.
If we finished 13th it means our 3rd rounder would be pick 49 (would change a bit with academy/fs bids)
If they finished 8th their 2nd rounder would be pick 26. In effect Ups us 13 picks or so.
Daw and pick 26 for Vickery and pick 49. Hmmm...a 440 point upgrade. Enough for Steele I wonder?

Pretty sure you have your numbers round the wrong way. If North finish 8th then thats Pick 29. If we finish 13th then our 3rd would be 42 (got the 13 pick upgrade right though).

Reckon we'd be better with the compo pick personally, especially if he gets paid enough for an end of 1st round pick. As a minimum we would get a 2nd, which would be around Pick 24.

Really depends on whether we are after a FA. If we are, then our compo pick will be downgraded so thats when we would consider trading rather than allowing free agency to happen. Personally don't reckon teams will want to trade for him, but as a freebie then there will be a few teams after him.

Yeah I think you're right. I was going off the draft points table Poshy. I think I counted down instead of up ;D
But the idea is still there. Only a couple of spots out. But if we were interested in Daw (someone made mentioned we may be)plus a 13 spot pick upgrade might have some merit. Not that I'm keen on Daw. I think we can do better.
It also might depend if the club he was going to was to lose a FA. Similar to the port/Monfries scenario

Had enough opportunities at our club to be a :star
His good performances are few and far between
Hopefully there were a few clubs interested in him after last night and increases his trade value

Spot on, btoz.
Vickery has sucked enough faith and money from RFC for so little sustained return. It time to see him to the door. And I would wish him well in leaving.

He was on his own , in the forward pocket ,pre ,3rd qtr the other night , just in front of where I was, ball was in the back pocket an Tyrone was shuffling along, I though geez TV present and he kept shuffling along and in the end he ended up hitting the ball hard and taking the mark and we may have got a goal out of it. Point been he was been too lasy at first to go hard an present, but when he actually found himself in the position where he had too, he did an did well. Like Grif I just worry about there want to get to contest after contest, Jack wants to be the man and more often then not is.......passion boys

Wouldn't be grand if all the tall forwards had a similar passion as Riewoldt to be the target in the forward line. Riewoldt just keeps on presenting and trying to create opportunities. Unfortunately, it seems the other key forwards aren't on the same page. Would make a world of difference if they were.

Some of it with Ty is lazy but I think he is also a very selfish player. He genuinely goes for the contests where he thinks he himself can benefit out of. If he has to go to the contest to do the team thing, they are the ones that he seems to have less will to get to the contest. He doesn't want to get hurt etc if he himself doesn't benefit. Really comes across as a real me, me, me person rather than a team player.

Why would North give up Daw AND 13 spots for Vickery. Overall stats this year Daw has been better than Vickery

Sounds like he timed his run n attack on the contest perfectly, what's the beef?

He'll probably go as FA I reckon. A couple more games like that and we'll get a second round pick at least.

I tried to tell myself that TM. A hard working key forward , would have been up on the wing a lot quicker, he just wasn't keen on getting there, it was just the bench screaming out to him to push. I'm not one to bash a player for the sake of it, I just thought this was just a perfect example of Vickery the footballer, talented and can play if he commits, however he just dosent get to go tests anywhere near enough and that's just a pure attitude issue imho

Football isn't the be all and end all for him I guess.

This may well be the case, but it is the way he earns a living, so he should commit to it far more than he is atm.
I'm sure that most of us do so in our own work lives. We would soon be job hunting if we didn't.

I believe he's doing a law degree. It could be that he's got his next career move lined up and is just doing enough to get good coin while he is studying.

Dunno, but he just doesn't seem like he's got the commitment needed to either the game, or at least Richmond

Except for average goals and marks - which are the two major stats for a forward.
Daw has more clangers as well

Only 5 games for the year.

Yep that 1 mark (not contested, Daw turns the stats on him in that regard) and .7 goals per game should make all the difference. That doesn't make up for all the other areas that Daw has been superior. Seriously North aren't going to give Daw AND 15 drop pick for Vickery. You may as well keep Daw, more upside.

So you're saying we swap one dud for another dud hoping our coaches can improve on his abilities?

I was hoping we could improve or list not go sideways
