I fear Trump will win a 2nd term. The fog caused by endless lies and deception chipping away at truth day by day is scary.

Agree and is of major concern. Need a Jacinda Ahern type to run against him (not Hilary!)

Mueller report handed down. Apparently contains diddly with regard to impeaching Trump.

Another lefty dream dies.
Not one single American was charged, indicted or convicted for conspiring with Russia to influence the 2016 election. Bullus, anything to add here?

The same site has him at $2.20 to be impeached in his first term, so factor that in.

You quotes the odds.
BTW that means they have about $1.70 not to be impeached.

It's bloody hard to find any review/report of the Mueller finding without obvious left/right bias going into it. Getting a bit tired of the lack of unbiased reporting but instead everything having a slant one way or another.

This, from Barr, is what I had expected to be found all along:

Barr quoted Mueller this way: “while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”

A bit over-the-top and one-sided but this is a good skewering of the media's role in RussiaGate by Matt Taibbi.

After reading a bit of each candidate, I'd like to see a ticket of Beto O'Rourke as Presidential nominee, with Elizabeth Warren as his VP running mate.

Despite the fact that Warren is painted as some type of far lefty. This is far from the case. On the social side of things, she plays to identity/victim politics too much for mine and made herself look as ridiculous as Trump himself in the whole Native DNA saga. So yes , "left-liberal" on that side of things. Which is why I think she's lost some credibility and might struggle in a general election. However from an economic perspective, she is no Socialist of the ilk of Bernie Sanders.

I see her economic platform as being sensible center. She actually used to be a Republican up until her 40s. She just argues that the excesses of unchecked winner take all neocapitalism are destroying the middle class and hence, the fabric of American society. Many of her policies espouse encouragement of enterprise in the small to medium business space, with a sensible safety net. I get the sense what she is arguing is that having an economy dominated by huge bohemiths leads to too much power and wealth being concentrated among the few. But I don't think she argues for big govt either - which she sees as just as essentially doing the same thing. Reading about her positions on issues, she is actually calling for wiser and more accountable spending of taxpayer dollars (I particularly like her criticisms of the amount of money wasted by tertiary education institutions, which she sees as the root cause of piling student debt).

If those opposite actually chose to read her positions on economics of more accountable spending, encouraging enterprise in the small to medium business sector, balanced with a sensible safety net - these are actually traditionally aspirational working class and middle class values that a conservative should even be able to identify with.

She's a very meticulous person and doesn't miss much in the finer details. Comes across as the wise old owl grandmotherly type and has a very extensive policy platform. I think she would balance O'Rourke's youthful charisma well.

By what standard could it have exonerated him? Seems an odd thing to say.

Exactly. Focus on nominating a Presidential (and VP) candidate who will hold wider electoral appeal. Engage the Trump administration calmly on policy, rather than raging divisive personality and identity politics. Doing the latter, only makes him stronger. Engage him on policy/ideas which he and his administration are very shallow in.

I go back to Elizabeth Warren as an example. She is a meticulous person with a very in depth knowledge of the finer details of policy. She has been at her best when engaging in and picking holes in the policies of those opposite (and indeed her own side of the house). This is also an area where Republican John McCain was highly respected across the house. Where she lost the plot was engaging Trump on the whole native DNA stuff. Sure this kind of identity politics plays to the died in the wool further left young Democratic voters. But turns others off.

Stick to tangible policy in a calm, rational way and the Trump administration doesn't have much of a come back. Foaming at the mouth, blind hatred of Trump is totally counterproductive.

There have been barely no posts in this thread since the Mueller report was handed in so who exactly needs to move on?

America bangs on and on about being the best democracy in the world. So whether there was collusion with Russia or not, they will never admit to it to the world. the best democracy in the world would never admit to manipulation of said democracy, whether it happened or nor.
