I know people who have voted for him. For most it was the hatred of everything the Clintons stood for and the hope that someone from the outside would come in and shake things up.

Of those same people about half will not vote for him again.

The other half will. Now these people are world travelled, intelligent, educated and what I would have considered quite rational people. Difficult to comprehend but what they have in common is a refusal to discuss Trump or the Republicans and only concentrate on what's bad about the Democrats. If I had to guess, they are either in the cult following zone or just can't bear the thought of admitting they were wrong.

I imagine all or almost all of them are also religous?

I know one family who will vote Trump. Very well educated successful family, well travelled and away from politics terrific people.

"Biden will socialise health, he will take our guns away, taxes will increase, Democrats don't value freedom and kill babies etc etc" . As you say nothing about Trump just anti Biden/democrats.

I'd love to know why anyone, ever would vote for him.

I just don't get it. I understand not wanting to vote for Biden but why anyone ever casts a vote for Trump just stumps me.

I've never actually known anyone to support him to understand why.

Trump was an outlet for frustration over the falling living standards of ordinary people in the USA. The middle class haven't seen wage rises in real terms for decades.

It astounds me that anyone would think that someone who inherited his fortune and screws everyone to get more for himself would look like the solution to this problem, but the other choice was a guarantee that the ongoing situation would continue to be ongoing.

Trump sold himself as an outsider and not part of the political business as usual.

After 4 years the proof is in the pudding, and he has not delivered.

Quote from Trump:

So, apart from the fact he wouldn't know what a socialist is, he clearly doesn't like women.

F Me, why would any women vote for him with that attitude?

Outrageous. What kind of America has trump created where a good ole boy cant Just walk into a shop and grab whatever weapon he wanted without having to ask for it. Where is the NRA when they are needed? When are the lawsuits happening to appease the guntoters suffering?

That was simply weird.

Women better vote for me!

I saved your suburbs.

I have no idea what he was raving on about because he said precisely nothing. He gave no reason why anyone should vote for him.

I suppose it is like his promised health care plan which would be so much better than Obamacare, which he has been promising for 4 years and has delivered nothing.

Read a report that the US election this year is going to costs US$14bn or about US$50 / resident of the US.

Compared to Australia, we spent A$372.5m on the 2019 election or about A$15 / resident of Australia.

The higher cost is crazy, thats around 4 times what we spend per capita on elections which I find astounding. What a way to *smile* money straight down the drain.
There should be a cap. It'd also stop the dodgy superpacs, lobbyists and black money.

I’m still waiting for trump to claim that the reason so many are dying from Covid is because the media are reporting it. If the media stopped reporting the deaths there would be no deaths due to Covid. Similar theory to there are so many infections because of so much testing, less testing = less infections. Less death reporting= less deaths

Jack Nicklaus delivers a ringing endorsement of Trump.

The greatest golfer of all time just dropped a US election bomb

Jack Nicklaus, the legendary golfer, took to Twitter on Thursday to endorse President Donald Trump and urged Americans who have not made up their minds to give the incumbent another look.

Nicklaus pointed out what some see as the president’s shortcomings and how he can be perceived at times, but he said he’s learned to “look past that and focus on what he’s tried to accomplish.”

Nicklaus, 80, is an 18-time major champion who recovered from a coronavirus diagnosis in March, mentioned in the post that he was raised in the Midwest in a middle-class family. He said his grandfathers worked on the railroad and relished living in a country where the American dream is achievable.

Nicklaus wrote that he wants more families to achieve that dream and fears the U.S. could turn into a socialist country where the government runs your life.

“This is not a personality contest; it’s about patriotism,” he said. He continued, “His love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has come through loud and clear.”

Trying to reason like Trump gets you to strange places. I think he was referring to the fact that his protection of existing gun laws meant that racially integrated suburbs was not something that would occur while he was in office.
