Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

On Footy classified last night, they showed that since Mark Evans took over, the free kicks per round has dropped from somewhere around 500, to somewhere around 200. It is dramatic, and it is good.

Since we booted Geisch out of the country, we've had the best umpired round of the last couple of years. It's pretty *smile* simple.

"Don't pay technical rubbish. Enjoy the game."
That point was brought up with KB on SEN and he said something along the lines of 'we'll have to look into that, because that is wrong, the umpires should be paying free kicks' ::)

WC supporters seriously need to have a look at themselves.

I mean, why do they always boo and carry on, like somehow it is them that is the hard done by club?

Do they see the stats?

Do they see that they get so many more free than their opponent every week? To the point where it is predeicable.

I seriously dont understand how they seem to feel so hard done by. I seriously don't get it.

Loved Kingy getting taken high by doing the exact same thing Hams, Selwoods and Shuey do and getting the free kick ;D

Son of a....

It's such a joke. Is there anyone, anywhere, for any reason that wants more free kicks?

Player safety, and a fair contest, that's all the umpires should be their to adjudicate. Let the players play. Less free kicks = better. Always. Forever.

Crisis meetings at AFL house. Not before time.
Hopefully the common sense approach continues.

Ps: time for Nanna Bartlett to stand down.

WC supporters free kick list

1. If NicNat doesn't win the tap, he only doesn't win the tap when he is infringed, free kick WC
2. Any tackle remotely close to the top of the shoulders, even mid chest on occasion, free kick WC
3. A ducking/shrugging/knee dropping WC player clearly deserves a high contact free, free kick WC
4. Any legitimate high tackle to the opposition, no free, boooo umpires, he milked it ::)
5. A reversal free to the opposition is clearly wrong, no free, booo umpires
6. A WC player who puts his hands up or *smile* his head back is automatic free to WC, no free = booo umpires
7. Any time an opposition player is tackled, holding the ball, failure of whistle, boooo umpires

I could go on but basically to sum up
Any free to WC was totally legit bordering on a 50m penalty, any suggestion of free missed, boooo umpires
Any free to the opposition is unfair, umpires are against us again, he was milking a free, booo umpires

Talk about delusional supporters with a sense of entitlement, pathetic, give Essendrugs a run for their money ::)

Like the RFC supporters at W.A. on the weekend, I hope at seasons end this song is played for Geisch

Na na na na hey hey.... goodbye

Kings head was nearly ripped off. No slight brush with the shoulder *smile* that the commentors like to tell us is an obviously (WC v NM game ). And what does the crowd do? Boo of course. Idiots.

Oh yeah. They just love to boo. Booooooooooo. It is just laughable. I almost can't stand watch WC home games as I find it just so noticeable. It is every free to the opposition. And then they give Bronx cheers when they get one, like they are hard done by.

The conclusion I reach is that because they all support the same team and don't have opposition supporters around them ever, no one is every there to tell them to pull their head in. In Melb, we of course have a lot of games where crowd support is even, and if supporters carry on about umpiring decisions that they have no right to complain about, opposition supporters will tire of it and tell them to shut up. Over there, no such thing. So this booing mentality is tollerated. And I doubt they realise how stupid they make themselves look to everyone else.

In the Weagles match I thought the umpires were very good.

Left the game flowing and didn't call anything too unnecessary, not any major shockers that I noted.

AGREE

right in front of us in the pocket we watched on as the weagles defender was all over A Edwards going for a mark - no free - i was livid!

next quarter right in front of us Rance was all over Kennedy - no free - Weagles supporters livid

thought they let a lot of stuff go and were consistent all night

The camera on the Goal umpire's hat was put to good use when Jordan Bannister came up for their deep and meaningful over Jackson's goal.

Another great moment in Australian Television.

Bryan Sheahan AFL Hall Of Fame inductee-"we are there to enhance the game not to detract from it"

Well said and congrats on your induction.

Speaking of Nik Nat.

That new ruck contest rule was so put in to make it easier for him to make spectacular bounding jumps all over the ground all game long.

At every boundary throw-in he was starting 3 metres from the other ruckman so he could get a run-up and jump all over him. There is no chance of another ruckman halving the contest by taking away his leap without tunnelling.

Yep, back to high jumping mega tall pelicans for ruck work again. The strength n body positioning is just a memory.

Some shockers by goal umpires last night and Peter Cech made another cameo appearance at the GWS game this arvo by straddling the line(argh) and a ball that looked a Cats goal was blocked by Cech as the ball rebounded off him into play.

I reckon the field umpires in general have done a fantastic job in the last few weeks. Just letting the play go on and not paying the tiggy touch decisions. Great stuff.
