Am hating the umpiring in the saints/wce game. Not paying obvious frees and to my way of thinking this will just make the player push the envelope and scrag and push and chop arms and shove in the back, and I bet the last quarter will be full of free kicks whichn he first three quarters were not paid. Pay them when they are there but not just for one quarter.
Yep, just went to script. Two or three terrible decisions wce's way and they win a game they had no right to win. And they jump ahead of us on ladder. Umpiring was sh!t.

Watched the last after hearing a fair bit of discussion on the radio.
Apparently, WC have are in the positive in frees and are more than the next best team. No surprise really.
The umps are not the reason WC won, but this is not what the discussion is about.
The holding the ball. The free against stk in the last seconds was harsh to say the least. But, the same thing happened about 2 mins earlier in stk goal square, with a WC player not even trying to more the ball on. So this is point 1, the inconsistencies. The inconsistancies must stop. Pay them all, or none. As usual the umps etc will say the correct dec was paid, but in reality, both incidents were the same, in fact, the WC player had a much better chance of getting the ball out than the Stk player, and as usual, inconsistancies lead to confusion and anger.
My second point is, as usual in a WC game, they got a goal from dropping the knees. The Priddas goal for in the back was a disgrace. The stk player laid a great tackle, rolled to the side, did everything he could do correctly, but, Priddas drops the legs, falls down, and the stk player hardly went near his back, but the stupid umpire gets sucked in again. Some say it is clever. I say it is cheating. But they are cheating because it works. A few players in the WC side do it all the time, and are getting away with it. We know who they are, Selwood etc. But how these eagle players just seem to keep getting rewarded more than most does my head in.
But anyway, while the powers that be keep telling us we are all wrong and there is no problem, it will just keep happening.
Lately, the frees have been less, and, the games have been better. But while the game is still too technical, inconsistancies keep happening. The holding/dropping the ball/incorrect disposal rule is the most obvious. I mean, who knows. Some times it is. Sometimes it isn't.
And the WC players will keep dropping their legs to draw frees from good tackles while the powers that be continue to let them get away with it.
This 'tackle from the back and drop your knees to show it's a push' free kick is getting worse by the week.

The players would have to be very very confused, when they can virtually get away with almost anything in three quarters, but in the last the umps decide to pay ANYTHING even when it is not there. it is just ridiculous - the players learn very early in the game that they can scrag, and push in the back and chop arms and throw the ball and the umps will allow it but in the last they decide to pay everything (often incorrectly) and have a huge impact upon the result of the game. Saints were robbed and whilst they made some bad blunders towards the end, they would have won if umpired as in the first three quarters. But we all know nothing will eventuate in reviews ande this sub-standard umpiring will continue to shape the top eight. Good one Adolf - doing a mighty fine job!!!!!!!?????!!!!!,

Officialdom had to change the rules to stop K.B.s blatant cheating, so there's no way K.B. will deprive a smart player from manipulating the rules with a rule change as was done to him.
Just listening to Bartlett.....just.....disputing that WC milk free kicks and that dumpires' interpretation aren't costly.
