Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

I thought in the main the umpiring was pretty good.

I actually thought we got away with a couple that could have been paid in the backline that weren't as well as a couple of marks that I thought should have been paid.

I'm not sure why this thread is even bought up on the whole tonight. Yep a few dodgy decisions either way but nothing to speak of really.

The umpire said he dived on it didnt he? Not sure what he was watching.

Yep. Dived on it from a standing position with the ball in one arm and the other being pinned by the tackler.

Spewing that Gieschen is on long service leave, i'd love to see him say that the free against Stevie Morris was the correct decision.
What a joke.

That was a shocker.

I'd be content with that standard of umpiring every week.

wasnt too bad, but i had to laugh when Griffen got a free in the middle cos White (i think) touched him as he went to the ball after watching Cotchin and Lids get continually grabbed and scragged off the ball for no free. every week.

and yes the morris decision was farcical.

The 50M penalty at the end of the second quarter was the worst for me. The umpire clearly reacted to the crowd. Didn't even look close live.

That was a shocker as well. The two worst call of the night we copped.

Much better than the rubbish they dished up last week, but it doesn't make them immune from criticism

I actually noticed a number of good decisions where Gieschen-era umpires normally would've been sucked in, or felt the need to get involved. They'll never be perfect; I'm just not inclined to bag them this week.

What about the 2 "tripping" frees against us in the last quarter? Both were good tackle that caused an incorrect disposal but both times the umpire has called trips because after the tackle has slipped down to the lower leg...AFTER the incorrect disposal!

This week will be interesting because the Saints have to buy a free kick this year.

But they are playing Richmond.

Will this be the first time this year they are favoured?

Stay tuned. ;D

Well we had a very favourable run from the umps when we played them earlier so my guess is we,ll be in the negative again.

From where I was sitting, the other side of the ground, that's exactly how it looked to me. He seemed to pause, then the crowd roared, and then he paid the 50.
I thought the umpiring was pretty ordinary all night, but I think we got the better of it

It was like a birthday. And we've hardly been on the right side of the ledger since.

Free kicks under Hardwick: P78-W31-L42-D5
Previous 78 games: P78-W29-L44-D5

Was it just me or did we get an armchair ride from the umpires yesterday bar a couple of shockers ? I felt like a Geelong supporter most of the day.

We've had a few good rides from the umpires.

If that's not proof that we've arrived then nothing is.
