The decision against Pettifer on the wing would rank as one of the worst decision of the year. After kicking the ball, his leg hit the Hawthorn guy high as it returned to the ground. What's the ga,e coming to if you can't execute the key skill in our game without giving away a free kick??
Yeah, nearly fell over when I saw that one paid against Pettifer! :-X
Also, the Krakouer one, where he dived on the ball to get it, the Hawks player fell over, and was awarded a free kick for 'tripping'....
The Pettifer 'deliberate out of bounds' one against Freo another "highlight" of the umpires for the year....unbelievable stuff!
The thing is, with 3 umpires....what one umpire will pay at one end of the ground, the other umpire might have a different opinion at the other end of the ground, therefore one team gets an 'advantage', purely because of a different person's opinion of an incident.
One umpire is the way to go...least the decisions will be more consistent for the whole game.
Secondly, its always fun to see "cheap" free kicks paid to the team thats been ripped-off close to the end of a match....or back in defence.
Makes it look good for them, when you look in the newspaper on Monday morning, and see that the Hawks and Tigers had a similar number of free kicks, when in reality...they had the bulk of them when the match was up for grabs, and we got our in "junk time"! :
