Umpires should be seen and not heard

Yeah and when they paid that mark to Holland after everyone touched it, Roberston had a clear hand in the back of an opponent when he was flying for mark of the year as he always does. Such a show poney.

If you lot think the umpires are doing are below average job then go and join the umpire ranks and lift the bar a bit.....pretty easy from this side of the fence isnt it. ::)

Well, my comments come obviously from my own observations, but with an influence from my father, who's umpired over 200 games in 2 country leagues (Mid Gippsland and Ellinbank). And even he reckons they're doing a dire job. He'll call both sides of it too, not just from a Richmond perspective.

Not an easy job but we pay our money to get in. The players cop it when they perform badly, why should umpires be exempt?

Tuby, based on that remark, we wouldn't be allowed to criticise a player because we can't go out and kick the football like them.

Wasn't the worst performance I've seen all year. Some shockers earlier on, particularly against the Weagles, and Coburg vs Nth Ballarat today.

I don't blame the umpires for the crap in the back interpretation though. They have to call it, because it's now a rule. The AFL are the bastards who bought it in, and they should be held accountable for it, not the umpires. I reckon it's put more attention on the umpires unfairly (along with the media focus), because they cannot get in the right position for every single contest on the ground.

How about in the last quarter when Richo administered the biggest push you'd ever see, right in front of the ump...and nothing!!!

Dear oh dear...

The rules committee are looking into this and may recommend a "no hands in the front" rule next season. And after Robbo's mark there could also be a "no knees in the back" rule too.

That was a classic. Earlier in the match Bling and Davey went for a mark, Bling from behind and got a hand to the ball at the same time as Davey then took the ball at the second bite. Little green maggots call. To many hands play on.
