Umpiring - Collingwood next week........

The rules are quite simple.

It is a free if someone incidentally touches someone in the back unless the contact is significant and forceful and prejudices the other player whereupon its play on.

The Geisch stated that rewarding the ball player is important so that's why a player now has no time to dispose of the ball once tackled and will penalised even if he disposes of the ball by scrubby kick which apparently no longer counts as a kick.

Consistent with protecting the ball player any player that tries to win the ball in a desperate act at ground level will have .6 microseconds to dispose cleanly before being properly penalised.

At centre bounces if two successive clearances have taken place without input from the umpire, the umpire shall pay a stepping into/out of circle/square infringement. If no infringement is remotely visible pay a free in ruck for early jump/shepherd/contact, again if nothing is apparent pay the free against Richmond.

Dont know how it could be any simpler!

Lamby - AFL Rules Committee for you. ;)
