With all of these gun players not having signed up yet, (Whitnall, Bartel, Grant, Power) If they were to fall through to the PSD, we have fifth pick, so if those 4 went first we would be left with first pick out of the young fringe players (Watts and others) interesting scenario as we still may get a good youngster even at pick 5.

Understand what your saying but you would think that the clubs involved would be moving heaven and earth to offload there players during trade week rather then lose them for nothing in the PSD. A bit like Ottens last year we 'demanded' 2 first round picks with onebeing in the top 10. When Geelong couldnt get us the pick in the top 10 we pretty much had to take a lesser offer rather than lose him for nithing.

I suspect that Bartel will be signed up. If the other 3 you mentioned arent resigned i would think they would be traded.

The flavour of the news reports definitely seems to suggest that Whitnall, Power, Watts, Polak, Grant and Hay are looking for other clubs with Fervola to be kept (because Whitnall leaves) and Bartel and Yze to stay with their respective clubs.

Of that lot can you imagine the size of the cheque which steady Eddie would reach into his pocket for to get his hands on Power?

Still like Watts out of that lot - less money/picks up front and plenty of upside when he has bulked up ten kilos. Also fits the age of our playing group.

Power, Polak and Salopek to be traded.
I definately think Carlton are more inclined to let Whitnall go and keep Fevola, maybe not of value to the team but to the club. Fev is the face of Carlton and sells gurensy's!!!!

Interesting listening to Ricky Nixon this morning;
He said yesterday morning he was enjoying a coffee...he's not looking forward to next week;
Apparently, 200 trades evolve from discussions with every club...only 5 will make it through;
This must be a very difficult week for player managers, constantly on mobile phones, checking player records and negotiating with so many different people;
I'd love to be a player manager, but sometimes one week can make or break you.

Let's hope we don't have the annoying problem of a player not finding out he's been traded until he arrives back from a holiday again.

If trade week is clearly announced, then every player should be back at home to expect the unexpected and not blame their club &/or manager for not knowing what happened.

I dont whether players can act on situations anymore than their managers. Most players are enjoying their holidays during trade week. Others who already have knowledge they might be traded, have held discussions about possible moves with their manager prior to leaving.
Their futures are in capable hands - It's best they continue enjoying their holiday, until a deal is finalised.

But there have been many situations where a decision on an originally 'safe' player has been changed and then traded by the club. Then again, thinking back, it was all media build-up anyway.
