What about Ryan Murphy from Freo?
He would come pretty cheap.

Promising young player but not really the type we require checkers.
We should be targeting midfielders and defenders.
He usually plays in the backline for his WAFL team.
Agree though, but there isnt many quality defenders around.

This is not pointed at anyone in PRE, just a few words I want to say.

If you want to be the best- get the best (at that particular point in time)

If Richmond want to be the best, pull out all stops to get the best - It can't be written any simpler.

If Judd is not going to stay with West Coast, he will play somewhere else - If we can't make a deal out of it, then Miller is not up to it...basically, if we miss out on getting him, well....we just can't do anything right.

If however Judd stays at Westcoast, then get the next best that's available = Pavlich - If he's not available, then move to the next best that's available and so on.

Always start at the top and move down the list.

Football has now become a business, therefore run it like one, but with a whole lot of passion - however do not let the passion blind you.

Agree with the sentiment but disagree with the statement that Miller is a dud if he can't get Judd. Not a Miller fan but I can think of a whole possie of reasons why Judd may not want to talk to Miller about coming to Richmond. We can start with our ladder position, move on to the quality of our midfield and from there.... Don't be concerned. One of my main criticisms of Miller is that he is always chasing the big "deal" in detriment to a policy of little deals and simply hanging on to our draft picks. For example I would only want someone free of draft picks through pick one of the PSD. Now the four players talked about, none of them are likely to do a "stevens" and if they decide to leave their club are going to want it recompensed which we probably can't afford.

In the long run - if we avoid paying a million a year to Judd but spent $250k per annum extra on recruiting and facilities and coaches we would probably end up better over all. Personal view.

I am also no fan of Miller, but we can’t judge him on his ability to attract any one player.

The fact of the matter is that no decent uncontracted player would want to come to Richmond right now. We are easily the worst team in the league (don’t take it from me, look at the ladder) and we are probably the worst club in the league based on prolonged and consistent sub-mediocrity.

We may get good draft picks, but we had them in 2004, and we made massive errors then. Players on the open market will look at us and say “they are perpetually bad, I don’t want to ruin my career there”.

We need to draft well, and maybe pick up some second run players in the pre-season draft. Players like Digby Morrell may be a good place to start…

I think if we just change the mix of recruits we get this year we will do well. We desperately need some drafts who are going to turn into a tough bigger body players. Like him or not, a Des Headland type (I think he was a number two pick) who is big, tough and nasty and also knows how to get the ball would do our team wonders. Tuck can't do all the hard work for the side. I am so sick of us recruiting light frame players (ectomorphs) where we have this desparate nail biting wait to see if they will ever put on enough muscle to effectively play afl football. Light frame players (which includes all the gifted aboriginals) are project players.

Lets use our early get some tough nuts, who know how to find and dispose of the ball.

Obviously school has finished for the day Turdbo. Mummy has let you log onto the computer for 1 hour, has she?

No chance of getting Pavlich, if he doesnt stay in the West Ican assure you he will want to be back here in SA. It is highly unlikely he wil lbe keen ot ocme to Vic and unless Freo dont budge on anything and he ends up in the pre season draft, then we have Buckleys chance with him.

Take out Taylor, Campbell & Mitchell with Williams who is already out would match Simmonds, Knobal, Coughlan & Brown & I think the Hawks wouldn't be doing much better!!

Seriously the players listed are out of contract for only 1 reason $$$$$ IMO they all will resign at years end and stay at the clubs that they are currently playing for but this raises a interesting point for me do we want players chasing the big $$$ at our club? or do we want players that play for the jumper and pride for the game ie performance based contracts. The only exception from the above list i believe is Reiwoldt because of the issues happining at the moment and is worth a look.

IMHO we need to chase A ruckman, A full back, and a couple of mids the rest will take care of itself over time.

Personally out of that lot, I'd love to see Pavlich at the Tigers. He is pivotal to any team and this year has shown his value. I don't necessarily think just because he is from SA that he will want to go back to SA. That limits opportunity and is just using a generic statement to paint across all players who are at interstate teams (unless he's publicly stated so). Judd is next off the rank, but I think he will be very hard to get, and I really can't see him leaving West Coast to be honest. Reiwoldt, I don't know, he just doesn't seem to be the match-winner that a Pavlich is, and not sure giving up what we would have to give up would be value. Dal Santo, I have always liked this guy, hard at it, and would come cheaper than the previous 3 boys. But Pavlich for mine.

why must we be talking about guns ?

what if there is an ok to decent player available in the psd, would we take him ?

I'd love for melbournes chopper carroll to be out of contract and come to us in the psd, not costing us any picks

any other non-gun ideas ?
