I get tired reading critism of players now on PRE. I have too been critical of the above but have tried hard to look at the people who have recruited these players to the club.
Lets look at Miller(now gone). Wallace (who has the final say (re Mcmahon) and the coaching/skills area of the club. These are the people we should be directing our anger and demanding some hard decisions at seasons end. Our skills , defensive pressure and our tackling under Wallace, Royal and King has gone backwards at a rate of nots. Sometimes we are quick to blame our recruiting but with what i heard re the Mcmahon trade that Wallace overode Miller on this then really how many other ones has Wallace overode on? Franklin?
Wallace , until this draft kept on recruiting skinny flankers and not recruiting key position players will come back to haunt us and set us back further. Wallace will leave us in a mess. Whether he sees his contract out or is sacked at seasons end will still prove fruitless. It will take a new coach further time to rebuild our list that Wallace should have done from day dot.
We cant blame players such as Patto, Tambling, Mcmahon and co. It wasnt and isnt their fault they were recruited to the club. Its not their fault re their skills and defiencies. We are in some deep trouble. In the next two years we will see the end of Johnno, Bowden, Browny, Richo , Simmo and a host of others (delistings) if we go by others comments. Do we realise the seriousness of where our list will be in two years time.?
I think that this year is an illusion and that next year will truly show just where we are at(look at 2007). We have been lucky with injuries this year so really lets see what next year will bring.
Wallace has to take the critism and he has an ego that will not allow this. Blaming others and spinning is his style.
I never wanted him as coach but accepted his appointment and thought he could build our list and our youngsters. He has fallen short on any game plan, building of our list and of our young kids. How many have debuted this year compared to other sides and we finsihed last in 2007. This is poor !
So lets get behind the players , they wear the jumper and it all stops with Wallace and co re their development, skills and whatever the game plan is.
