When trying to upload a picture as an avatar I got this message:

The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved.

Is this something to do with the new host?

I presume it probably is to do with different settings or permissions Ready. I'll see what I can find out.

Yep Rosy, all sorted.

Although I couldn't find another avatar that fitted my exact plan so I've gone back to the old. Roar's 6-year old alter-ego likes it anyway.

Yep, can't stop the little tacker eating carrots - just wish I could grow them as quick as he eats them!

It's all your fault, Ready - you and your darned avatar! ;D

Just hope the kid doesn't develop buck teeth and long floppy ears!

Hey Rosy,
If I've got an image say off the web and it's not the exact avatar format provided (ie it stretches). Is there a way to prevent this from happening so the aspect of the original image remains? If you know what I mean. ???
I notice some other posters avatars don't stretch, squash etc.

I'm not sure what you mean ToO and even if I did I'd probably still struggle to answer, ha. :-[
Do you mean a rectangular picture is squished into a square shape? If so I don't think that can be helped but I'll look into it.
The avatars are set at 80x80 or 100x10 or something so they are square.

Exactly Rosy. How come some avatars eg. Curtis E Bears or Gypsy Jazz's(which are both very cute BTW) are rectangular yet retain their shape and don't default to the square aspect? Where as other original images stretch or squash to fill out the square aspect?
Any help or clarification on this if you can would be greatly appreciated.
ToO

I think what happens is that the images are forced to a certain size if they are larger than the 100x100 (or whatever). So, if say the original image is 640x480, it gets forced to 100x100 and goes square.
You probably need to make the image smaller such that the largest side is only 100 - ie a 640x480 image would become 100x75, and then upload that smaller image.
