Lenard Cottrell Mitchell, who played 6 games in 1957 for the Richmond Football Club, has died aged 70 years old.
He was born on 29 May 1935, and would have celebrated his 71st birthday at the end of this month.

Recruited from North Ballarat, Len joined Richmond and debuted in the first game of 1957 against Nth Melbourne at Punt Road. Also debuting that day was Bill Clements, Brian Pilcher and Neville Crowe. The Tigers won.

Like many people in this era I don't know anything about Lenard Mitchell, but thanks to Rhett's excellent eulogy, I think it's worth taking a little time to pay tribute to the man. It's a great thing to wear the Tiger colours even for a short time and that in itself is worth respect, but his later playing and coaching career shows that he was a great servant to football for much of his life.

Commiserations to his family on his passing.

Always sad to lose an old Tiger. R.I.P. Lenard. Condolences to the family.
