Oh East Melbourne!
Thought both Ross and Sonsie were excellent today… particularly Ross - 30 touches, 8 clearances and 6 tackles playing on ball.

What do people know about Sam Tucker? 5 goals on debut? Could he be who we want in the MSD? 195cm.

I know he wasn't on debut. That was against Casey a couple of weeks ago (6 disposals, 1 goal). 20y/o, 195cm. Nice kick on him, decent mitts. Kicked 3 for us v Essendon in a VFL praccy last year. Can't tell you much more.

Here you go, posh, from the practice match thread last year.
Sam Tucker kicked 3 goals.

Sam Tucker | Key Defender/Forward
07/01/2002 | 197cm/87kg

A swingman of sorts, Tucker is one who was poised to make a big impact in 2020 with a full NAB League season. He is a solid marker of the ball who can impact at either end of the ground, but looked to be settling nicely into a key defensive role. He is already a nice size for it, too.

Very curious about Tucker. But highlights reel shows his pleasing goal-kicking ability but not much of how he wins the ball except his last - solid mark. Surely one we have to keep an eye on for MS draft. No doubt Druggies scouts are, the lazy cheats.

Similarly, watching Cumberland's progress. Could he become the George upgrade. Can find the goals in several ways - seems a classy kick.

How did the big fellas go - Tylar Young and Mykelti Lefau?
Both might be in line for the midseason draft, although they are a bit older.

Young had 13 disposals, kicked 1.2 and had 31 hitouts.

Leafy had 1 disposal and one hitout.

Sounds like Young the Elder is doing well this season. Is it true he is a Ruck / Forward in the CCJ mould?
And Leafy can't get near it!

If you were going to build a footballer in a computer program it'd end up looking like Sam Tucker.

It's never been about his physical gifts though, it's always been if mentally he can get there. If he starts well, then he's great, if he starts poorly then he is a spectator (which is why he was moved to the backline in NAB League, to try to keep him in the game more). Ripping kid, would do well in a full time environment with all of the support that is offered to players.

He had no presence in pack marking contests, often running himself well under the ball and/or going up one-armed. Speaks to a lack of physical confidence because he has good hands and will play in front one-out.

Good too read that possible future mids Dow, MartYn and Sonsie found plenty of footy
Martyn played HBF, pushing up, got involved. Played quite well. Dow and Sonsie were scrappy early but Dow's evasiveness in traffic and Sonz's poise and execution stood out the longer the game went.

I thought most of the young blokes did well although Brown and Clarke were probably down a bit on some earlier games. Sonsie is interesting to watch, he looks really classy at times but he can also be lazy and cough the ball up when he really shouldn't. No doubt the coaches will be working on that side of his game as he has a lot of potential.

Judz moved faster than what Butler did. Can't wait to see him (and Banks) in attack.

I think we will probably let Will go at years end though.
Time will tell , doing all he can at VFL level , missed a lot of the pre season , I think he’s more chance of been on the list then Ross, RCD and Miller

Agree

At this stage Sonsie doesn't look like he's going to be a contested clearance player, he likes to be the 2nd receiver.

Is like Shorty, good off both feet, will be interesting what his best position ends up being.
