Interesting question, I've often thought we are better standing alone, until I read this on big footy. It's a reasonable argument for why we are better sticking with Coburg.

P.S. I'm not sure on the rules/protocol regarding posting links to other forums, but considering that 99% of what is posted on Big Footy is absolute sh!te, consider this a community service, with someone picking a diamond from amongst the dung.

Pretty good post except for some outlandish statements about Coburg players: Sylvester better fullback than anyone in the senior team; Ronaldson better than Simmonds.

top posting TOT,

How anyone could want us to have an RFC reserves outfit where the only advantage over what we have now (the RFC/Coburg/Calder alliance is the most advantageous in the league) is having the name & colours of RFC.

All other outcome's of "going it alone" ahead of our current alliance would stifle not add to our players development.

thats so true developmeny comes first.

i think aligned clubs who are doing bad at vfl level in general have gone thru a cycle. ie box hill very strong vfl side a couple of yrs ago but as the good kids have come thru to seniors their fortunes have waned.
the fact that we are so strong at vfl level could suggest our players have not progressed.

Box Hill runs out with several National Draft young guns each week- Dowler, Renouf, Tuck, Murphy, Thorp, Bailey, Kennedy, Moss, Whytecross, Morton.

Maybe they aren't developing.
