Careful skybeau, disagree with TT andhe might start psychologically analysing your relationship with your mother.

I only pyscho-analyse those that clearly require it GO (and you should be thankful I didn't charge you for it!) >:D

Looking at the same draft Kreuzer came from, McEvoy - few games, minimal impact, Lobbe - not seen and in SANFL reserves, Dawson Simpson - man mountain but still yet unseen, Putt. Other talls like Notte, Tarrant, Henderson, Collier, M Westhoff, Simpson, Thoolen and McKenna, while not being ruckman, are all unseen or un-noteworthy thus far. From that draft, really only Kruezer and Harry Taylor (a mature aged recruit) have showed signs that, as talls, they are AFL ready.

A year back and of the higher rated talls (from the first two rounds), only 5 could be deemed to have made an impact, out of 17.

Is it so hard to admit that Kreuzer, instead of supporting your argument, might just be a freak?

No, not hard at all: Kruezer is a freak.

But of course I can just trot out these small/mids from the 2007 draft who have haven't made an impact: Meyers, Hinkley, Browne, Boumann, Farmer, Meredith, Reid, Steven, Connors, Kite, McNamara, Smith, O'Keefe.....etc etc

And we don't want the fact that Tarrant and Henderson have been terribly struck by injury get in the way. And of course let's be real about this, there's been 32 games since these kids were drafted, we're hardly talking years and years.

But we are getting further away from the argument.

I'm saying that the cliche that talls take longer to develop is a myth. I still haven't been inundated with examples of late developing talls and even if I was I would provide a list of late developing smalls/mids.

Still not fussed if he plays this year or not. If we get the tank on give him the last month.

Would much prefer to see him dominate the VFL splitting time 50/50 in the ruck and up forward.

Bigs are slower, it's a fact. If he was a running player I would throw him in.

BTW, good to see Melbourne give young tall Jack Watts a go this week! Clearly Melbourne have no idea about knowing when to let their talls make their debut! They mustn't read the comments from PRE's self appointed knowers of all matters football.

hold on...i can hear the excuses coming now...."Watts is different", "he's ready"

Watts is an over-sized midfielder.

'The 2.82 time put Watts in the top 1 per cent of the 1500 players tested in the history of AFL draft camps.

He was the quickest non-indigenous player tested in 15 years until Ashley Smith came along a short time later and clocked 2.80.

No player of Watts' height has been as quick or agile in the history of testing.

Way above anything that has been seen

I wonder why they took so long to play him.

Watts is a 195cm mid? Right ::) :

Watts is an athletic, strong-marking tall forward with pace who is an excellent shot on goal. He represented Vic Metro in 2008, winning the Larke Medal and All-Australian honours [2] and performed well at the 2008 AFL Draft Camp. He recorded the second fastest time by a non-indigenous player in the 20 metres sprint with 2.82-seconds.[3]

Too may ifs Scoop. The 30 year if.

THere was only one. If you want to tank and go for the list management method then play him early.

For me rucks and KP's shouldn't be expected tp contruibute anything in there first year. Anything more is a sign of poor list management unless they are a standout talent.

Kruezer has confused a lot of people to what the norm is for a ruck.

I think you misunderstood me. Watts is an over-sized midfielder in terms of he has all the attributes required. Speed, strength, disposal skills. Watts could play anywhere but of course with his height you would play Watts in a key position. You think Kruezer is a freak. Wait till you see Watts.

:rofl

Look out, this Melbourne that you spruik are now copping it from all & sundry for playing the young tall Watts before he's ready.

Obviously Leigh Matthews doesn't know much about the time it takes to develop key position players either judging by this comment -

"18-year-old key-position players can frustrate you for a lot of years".
