Viewing Tigers games - when in Canberra?

Will be visiting Canberra on the weekend of the Tigers vs Cats clash (Sat 2 Aug)

Does anyone know of/recommend a venue to watch the game ???

Will be with "she who must be obeyed" - so prefer a decent venue as opposed to a beer swilling, topless barmaid, party environment,

Damn I miss those days ;)

RSL in Manuka next to the ground has foxtel from memory.

Close to good restaurants and nice cafes too for the missus.

Ainsley Footy Club shows every game on the big screen and usually has a good roll up of interested punters and convivial atmosphere.

Mrs Sir can be assured of a more RSL club-like than pub-like setup with comfy lounge chairs to boot.

Afterwards you can play spot the former AFL player amongst the Ainsley hall of fame photo wall. 20 points for David Cloke - 3 points for Jamie Shanahan [it's a pretty short game and Mrs Sir may be getting bored at this stage]

The Ainslie is definitely the place to be if you are on the North side of Canberra as it is a proper AFL club and they always have AFL games on the TV. The locals know this so there is usually a decent atmosphere there. I rate the salad bar there too.

James Hird would be worth 100 then.

Agree with others hard to go past the AFC.

Ross Smith, “Cowboy” Niel amongst others, and the empty space on the wall is probably where the Brett Knowles’ photo used to hang.

I live in Ainslie now when I’m not being sent to the colonies to maintain the empire, got a few drinking buddies who are born are bred AFC.

Knowsley not only alienated off a large part of the playing group, after they finally sacked him he went and played for arch rivals Belconnen. Another one of the AFC’s great buy ins of the last decade.

Sorry Tooheys - I make the scoring system.

Admittedly the format was developed whilst I was in a somewhat refreshed state however the judges decision is final.

;D Made me laugh.

You would be laughing harder if you saw the place Tigerflag spends most weeks. You'll probably hear abut it in twenty years time in the same context as Boganville, Darfur, Abidjan or Sarajevo, that is holes in the ground you've never hear of until something nasty happens.

No wonder he goes a little bit OTT when he comes back to the big city for weekends.

If you r staying on the southside try the Southern Cross Club at Woden, good food, good beer, and plenty of seating to watch the footy.Or the Eastlake footy club in Kingston, plenty to do in the area if keen to kick on afterwards. But if on the North side def the A.F.C.Great club.

Really appreciate the feedback :clap

A.F.C it is :)

Looking forward to it (hoping we beat Brisbane first!!!)

Cheers

I take offence to that. The places I work in will in twenty years time be known as the new Canberra (whatever the hell that is!)

I haven’t been home in a while but last time I checked there are less people with automatic weapons in Canberra

Terrorists or no terrorists, Canberra is still....pfft

Have you ever read UNDERGROUND by Andrew McGahan? Worse things could happen ;)
