Its finally official!
At 2:30 p.m this afternoon, Terry Wallace handed in his resignation to Richmond President Gary March. Moments later, he gave an exclusive interview with this intrepid reporter.
“It is with great regret that I’ve just handed my resignation to Marchy, “said Wallace. “And he has accepted it, effective immediately.”
It has been widely speculated by media sources, sources close to media sources and sources who really have no damned idea at all but that hasn’t stopped them from speculating anyway, that Wallace’s departure from Punt Road was imminent. Finally, they have been proven to be on the money with their guesswork, albeit only after several false starts. This reporter expects that tomorrow’s edition of the Herald-Sun will once again carry the emotive headline: “We tipped this!” and sell truckloads of copies.
Wallace cited failing health concerns as the catalyst for his resignation. “It has just become too much for one man to bear,” replied Wallace when questioned about the reasons behind the bombshell announcement. “Once I realized that the health of every Richmond supporter on the planet had been adversely affected by the events of the last few weeks, I decided that I would fall on my sword.”
“It is just not right. Our health system is stressed enough without these poor long-suffering souls requiring broken heart surgery and post-traumatic stress therapy after each and every match. Enough is enough.”
I also strongly suggested to Marchy that he consider doing the same, in the interests of the long-term prognosis for Richmond fans.”
