we play ca ess melb fre twice how many battling sides from last yr does he want to play twice? all of them it seems.

the way its panning out this yr we will probably play bottom 6 teams 10 times how much easier does he want it.
How about you listen for a change.. He was saying that we finished lower than carlton last year, but we play geelong, hawthorn, twice [4 games ] whilst carlton play them once[maybe 1 team twice] and we play interstate teams 3 times at home compared to carltons 5 or 6 times which was about 5 to 6 easier[in context] games than us...and Andrew Maher agreed [being a carlton supporter]..we got stiffed!!

Waiting for your ..well if where good enough.blah,blah,blah..But facts are facts..{and yes we should have won against saints, and dogs]

I just wish he kept out of all these interviews and kept to his plan at the beginning of the year and let the clubs footy do the talking -

Todays not even Tuesday, so why is he giving interviews.
;D

Off memory (wasn't really listening TBH) Wallace was asked about the draft pick issues for the GC and WS, and he didn't want to go there, saying there are other issues that are a significant concern like the lack of equity in the draw.

Isn't it called the luck of the draw?

Perhaps I am missing something here but I thought the draw was still relatively random(except for Scumwood :P) and it wasn't made easier or more difficult for underachieving teams the follow season. Happy to be proven wrong.

That's why I can't really see why Terry is complaining at all.

It's called that when you enter a lottery. The AFL draw shouldn't be a lottery. It should be fair, even and balanced. If they can't squeeze in enough rounds so everyone plays each other home and away in one year, then they should enure that over 2 years it happens.

Luck is being taken out of it more and more each season.

Deals to guarantee blockbusters, high rating teams for Friday nights, and the stadium deals often mean some teams get a sweet run and others suffer.

For instance, everyone wants to play the Pies in Melbourne. This means the Pies travel less, and because they are high drawing, they play more at the G. Teams still need to travel interstate though, so some teams cop that a bit heavier. Likewise with the Pies at the G for home games of Dome tenants, the Dome needs their numbers pumped up, so the Tigers and the Dees cop the shaft.

Fair enough but I wasn't aware of there being a mandate for teams that finished down the bottom to be given an easier draw than the premiers the following year and that appears to be basically what Wallace is saying.

It actually wasn't what he was saying. The point he was trying to make in a "fair" system, you would expect 15 and 16 to come in with relatively similar draws. The reality is however this has not happened. When we get 17 in (with a bye), and then 18, this situation will only worsen, with more deals and preferential favours to certain teams.

The equity of the draw with 17 teams in play could become a big issue.

A caller to AW made a reasonable point last night. With 17 teams, with a bye required it means we either have to play 17 rounds (each team once or a bye), or it may get messy. If we have 22 rounds, how do we work it so each team gets two byes? Looks like lots more split rounds, or three teams having a bye, and other interesting arrangements to come :( If he's wrong on this though, let us know, because thinking about it briefly it seems the guy has a point.
