Wanganeen Finished

Like Lloyd far from one of my favorites but I often have wondered what I would of thought of him if he wore yellow an black.Would easily get a game in my best 22 since he started playin :-X

wankaneen was the first "footballer" to turn diving into an artform. i'm glad to see him go. he's also very selfish because he only played on this year to get to 300 games.

Flamin mercenary who was WAY OVER-RATED as a footballer in my opinion.........
Nah bugger him.......Snip,snipe,snap....and got the easy goals.
Only thing original on his C.V.is that he,ll go down as the only back pocket player ever to win a brownlow......C,est la Vie.......... :-\

Have to pull you up there, Brad Hardie & John James come to mind.

That he was one of Sheedy's favourites doesn't make him a champion (e.g. Mark Bolton), but no ordinary players have played anywhere near 300 games. It's a bit of a mystery how Justin Peckett has survived for 230-odd.
Bernie smith Cats

Whhops....Thanks for the correction guys......the synapses that control my knowledge retention of our game must be goin a bit rusty......dont drink as much you see.........cheers! ;D

I see you’re posting 6 times a day, I think I might approach the CFO and tell him you’re not only eating too much of his cake but you’re wasting valuable work time discussing Port Adelaide legends. Don’t make me bring up the Rothmans cup....

Who let this joker in? Isn't there a minimum age requirement?? Can we please shut the door before any more Alberton undesirables sneak through???

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

I agree with Morell. Sure he staged a lot, but you can't dismiss all aspects of his game. A brownlow from a BP? AS Morell said, I don't think Port would have won their flag without him, kicked multiple goals after hard ball gets when pressure cooker games were there to be won, in the prelim and the GF. Just one of those players who produces.

And since you responded so swimmingly, you have forced me to play my ace;

Richmond, whose lineup included Royce Hart, Ian Stewart, Neil Balme, Kevin Sheedy, Kevin Bartlett, Francis Bourke and Roger Dean were beaten by Port Adelaide, in 1971. This little tidbit of information has caused The Bear much angst, he simply cannot believe it, cannot accept that one of Richmond’s greatest sides was beaten by some "second grade team" playing in a "second grade competition" (his words). Indeed every time I raise this The Bear goes rather quiet. After this post he will likely try and claim that two 25 minute quarters isn’t long enough to truly gauge the quality of the contest. But surely the great might of the Richmond FC during the 70's would be strong enough to quash any suggestion of equality between the competitions in 5 minutes, let alone over an hour...

If you think that's an ace, don't take up poker, Junior. Rothmans Cup = lightning championship & Polly Farmer testimonial. You can't compare Anthony Mundine with Joe Frazier because Mundine won at tiddlywinks.

Anyway, let's not hijack the thread. Suggest you start a topic on the worth of SANFL coffee mugs vs VFL/AFL premiership cups, you'll get as much support as Nick Stevens at a Power function.

Have given Wanganeen his due - great player and dirty so-and-so.
Go get 'em General. :clap

If Wanga had worn the yellow and black he would have been hailed as one of our champions, the guy could seriously play.
Favourite memory of Wanga------------- Sprung in the pink budgie smugglers at rehab down the beach. What was the boy thinking wearing those in public :rotfl :rotfl

all these idiots onlide that suggest wanga is /was soft and played 4 frees have rocks in their heads. this guy , the rubber man, many times put his body on the line for the sake of his team, he was an outstanding player and a genius, could play back, fwd, midfield.
now this guy was a talent and a half, and anyone who thinks he is a mug thug or whatever just because he hit naish are just khjwvdbklwjvfbkl;jbv

naish was a soft overrated ankle biter , and who cares if wanga hit him, only they know why it happened but bloody hell, just because wanga hit him does not mean he was a soft and average player!!! how many guys did jack dyer and teddy whitten smack around in their day!!!

btw, wanga isnt finished, he has reincarnated into meyer!!!

yep, meyer will be the next wanga, i see so much in meyer that resembles wanga its not funny. and they both have the same body types to boot.

yep, wanga has retired but will live on in his reincarnated form, we will refer to meyer as a wanganeen for the next decade
