You will be all delighted to learn my pc has been invaded - unfortunately it hasn't put me totally out of action. But this is a warning to any of you who like to search for MP3 sites - where if you visit these sites you are opening yourself up to parasite advertising companies that will infiltrate your PC (with porn and god knows what) and you virtually cannot get them out of your PC unless you do a total system restore which i'm gonna do tomorrow.

I have found a site which educated me about the problem. The two main culprits are www.lop.com and the pain in the bum one for me is tjar.com.

the site i looked at is http://doxdesk.com/parasite/lop.html

I hope none of you experience this - is a mega pain. Even zonealarm and other software can't help once it's on - but if you have the software set it up now to protect against them.

Some IT experts might have more info on this than i can explain - i am technically useless - but is just a warning for you all.

Cheers

Just trying to find the first post on this site.

This one has a message at the bottom that says:

« Last Edit: January 01, 1970, 10:00:00 am by 1048741200 »

Can that be right?

Does this site go back to 1970?

Isn't that 20 years before the internet was open to the public?

???

it would just be a default date before the boffins got the site up and functioning completely.

I wouldn't click on the sites on the first post...good way of getting a virus/spyware if you ask me....(maybe I'm wrong but I'm not taking any chances)

IF...(and I say 'if') the links provided are harmful to people's computers then I think it is a good idea to delete it so unaware posters don't click on them (like kids, etc).
So I agree with Zoso.

Those links look suspicious to me, I won't be clicking them. If they are some sort of hacking site or something someone here may have their PC hacked. So yes, I think it should be deleted.

Until someone clicks on them we don't know if they are questionable. However I agree don't take the chance and if not deleting the thread perhaps a mod/admin could at least disable the links.

Let us know what happens Brigadier... :hihi

not sure what the posters motive is but that doxdesk site seems ok.

i checked it out on google first by typing "doxdesk scam" in and nothing bad came up.
the site itself gives info on parasites, they`re a bit different to a virus so they say and then they recommend some pretty common things like adaware and spybot as things that can fix them.

seems pretty harmless to me,although i am far from an expert.
