Was I At the Same Game??

Our midfield is pretty bad.

Foley and Tambling were the only ones who looked capable of being great midfielders for 2008. The rest of the side will look worse than they are for this reason.

And even they are proven yet - most clubs have a couple proven......... RFC .. Zippo!

Benny, most pundits would disagree with you and although I wasn't there, I find it difficult to believe that we were anything but mediocre, but God bless you for trying to see the positives. I hope that the team repays you for your (perhaps ill-founded) faith.

They sure did Pokey, they sure did :)

When I see positives then I am not making them up.

I clearly SAID that while Hughes did not go in hard, he never backs down from a contest.

It is positive signs like these that other people don't notice until he takes a courageous mark in front of 72,000 people at the G. Yes we lost to Geelong by 70 points, but there were heaps of positive signs by several of our players (eg, seeing how Tambling threw his body in hard).

You can't just focus on the negatives and ignore the positives. I have ignored several negatives in this thread because there were more than enough posters filling in the blanks for me :hihi

With the Geelong game coming up I have heard several posters refer to this practice match and it reminded me to re-read my report of the match.

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but my opinions when this thread was posted were far more accurate about this football club than 90% of the darksiders who blasted me.

The only thing in my opening post that was not accurate was reporting that Kayne Pettifer had improved :hihi

Thanks to the few who believed me when I said I witnessed that the club's CULTURE HAD CHANGED.

- I would say we played well, had good structure and several players showed promise.

- You've gotta love the mentallity some of our players are building. We were not soft, we showed a fair bit of strength IMO.

- But back to the game, it's how you lose, it's not about the final scores. We played well and lost.

- Kel Moore kept Steve Johnson to 2 goals in a 23 goal team. He was sensational and IMO is showing signs of becoming a premiership quality player with few flaws.

- Mitch Morton showed me that he isn't as soft as I thought. Layed a couple of very hard tackles.

- Cleve Hughes worked very well with Richo at FF. Didn't do any rough stuff but at the same time never backed out of anything. Can't play side by side with Richo, one of them needs to be up the ground.

- Jordy was a poor trade (losing Scott Selwood), BUT he is a good player. Compliments our team well.

- Cogs was very poor, will not play Round 1.

- Whitey - He reminds me of someone though. Little guy who tackles harder than anyone, has average skills, blistering pace...... Nathan Foley!. Has that same speed/acceleration and mongrel/tenacious combination.

- Daniel Jackson was in the best players, but I didn't see him do much.

- Richo was brilliant all day - clearly still the best player at our club. To all you "people" who say he should be delisted you ARE A *smile* JOKE!!!! I laugh my head off at you because this guy is the king.

- We played well and lost.

Does this opinion sound like someone who is on drugs? Someone who is so biased they are stupid?

Just makes me angry at the attitude of people who support this club. Slightest sign of positivity and "ooo what a brightsider flowersniffer idiot".

Anyway I think if we play with the TEAM SPIRIT that we showed in the 2nd half against Geelong (where we BEAT them by 10 points... which people at the time ignored) then we will be a chance.

They've lost momentum since this match and we've gained it.

Moral of the story - DON'T WRITE OFF THE TIGERS!

And don't make people feel like they're idiots for seeing positive signs in the team they love.
