I may be way off the mark here but I'm trying to work out why we haven't had MIDFIELD HARDBALL WINNERS since the Weightman, Rioli, Freezer and Knights days.
I realise Campbell was a good player in the sense of reading the play and winning possessions...in my eyes he never took on the opposition and win that HARD BALL and RUN THAT STRAIGHT LINE.
I wonder if he was influential to his teammates on the field at that time in this regard...the likes of Tivendale, Pettifer, Tuck, Rodan ( at Port ), Fiora ( at St.K ), Krakouer, Bowden ( when he played in the middle ), Deledio even played with him in his first year.
I'm sure a few others can be included that have moved on.

Thankfully we have ONE hardball winner in the midfield in N.Foley but we need at least 2 more helping him out...if Deledio & Tambling don't HARDEN up...then I suggest Matt White, JON and Cam Howat hit the weights and join the midfield next season...play Deledio and Tambling on the wings.

Any thoughts ?

i dont think it is campbells fault we have a soft mid field, its just that our mid fielder seem to be more worried of getting hurt, i learnt a great thing while playing junior footy for my club and it turned me into a player that i was proud of what i was doing out on a football field, the player that goes for the ball hardest (in a sensible sort of manner) will 99% never get hurt, the person that second guesses himself couild very much end up on a stretcher. maybe these sort of facts should be brought up a richmond training session.....

fair point J rod...but I can't help thinking he had a say in their mindset...and the players mentioned have followed his footy style...I just need to know why we haven't had the likes of a Harvey, Voss, Buckley and Kerr in our midfield the past 10 years. They are and were all fearless at getting that hard ball.

Grasping at straws now. If it's Campbell's fault that we were so bad on Sunday, let's blame David Cloke for Richo's kicking too.

I suppose we could just narrow it doen to recruiting, but it seems as though the problem is much more deeper than that. Every player has the feriosity at the ball in them, it just needs to somehow come out. Terry and the coaching staff really have to inject something to the players to really win that hard ball. I was 10 in 1995 and loved to see how the tiges attacked the ball and the man.. It was one of the best years to watch the tigers play football.

Wallace you were known as a hard man in the game when playing, maybe it's time to put your personal expiriences into place instead of sorting out which style of game we are playing this week. Get the mongrel back into the RFC.

Cloke looked awkward but was quite effective...especially after pinching at his shorts...Rafael Nadal does the same thing...picks at his a$$

Cogs is a good man to get the hard ball, but unfortunately he's not there. If Tuck could clean up his disposal or at least get it to someone like Deledio it would help out in the middle.

If your looking for anyone to blame, blame the heart of 19 richmond players.

That's a gutless statement Jukes.

Name the 19.

And if you really believe it, then get down to Punt Rd and put it to those guys face to face instead of on this anonomous internet forum.

Make sure you bring your membership card, if you have one.
hear hear Junior

I think its gutless, and ridiculous, to start pointing fingers at a player, who hasn't played for 2 seasons....gimme a break!

Gutless is blaming Campbell for our loss against Geelong last week.

For a start i am a member...have been since i can remember.
I've never turned my back on the club & never will. Just venting out some frustration and opinions.

It would be easier for me to name the players that had a crack for a start.
I don't even really wanna think about last rounds match, I'm looking foward and hope they can notch up a win sooner rather than later.

Okay that performance should not happen in this day and age in AFL footy. 5 minutes into the first 1/4 i could just see it was
gonna be a long night. There were to many Geelong blokes everywhere, No pressure & no manning up.
They just seemed uninterested out there.

The fact of the matter it's been a dark day in history for the RFC & none of our leaders stood up when Geelong threw down the
gauntlet to us.......which is usually the case.

....................Because they were heartless.

I THINK we should BLAME Wayne Campbell for SOME posters USING CAPSLOCK too MUCH

Its a bloody DISGRACE

:hihi
