Wash up of the day

Yup this was the major problem yesterday, White and maybe Connors or King should be played there permanently.

those 2 kangaroo small forwards are the prototype of what we want. fantastic chasers. our forwards are terrible chasers

How many times people do we haveto listen to coaches/players state, "we are dissapointed for the supporters" "we played a shocker" blah blah blah blah referring to press interviews after the game etc.

One of the biggest games of the year if not the biggest for the club in a long time and they dish up that rubbish, my god all we ask is they have a go and yet again on cue they let us all down again, was at the match in Adelaide and they were absolutely deplorable both Richmond and the moronic crow supporters.

Not a great fan of North Melbourne but gee Richmond really need to study the culture of that club, they have pride in the jumper, never say die attitude, they always seem to give 100 %.

So very very dissapointing Richmond, no more like pathetic actually.

Thought our lack of forward pressure was really badly exposed yesterday.

Richardson, Morton, Bowden, Riewoldt & Brown were all shocking at the fall of the ball and I lost count of how many times the Crows defenders were able to clear the ball from defence. They ran rings around us down there just as they did last time up. Wallace was completely incapable of stemming the flow out of Adelaide's back half.

Add the likes of Pettifer, Hughes & Schulz and our lack of defensive forward pressure is a real issue for us going forward.

I would kill for a two way forward up there ala Paul Chapman, Ryan O'Keefe etc.

On the topic, the Inside 50s stats seem quite close at 47 v 37. Our last possession into the forward 50 was often stuffed up by the deliverer or coughed up by the forward. This is the most import possession and we continually butchered it. Shots at goal shocking, the play on snap did not work well at all today. Richo was in a mire of self doubt that was gargantuan even by his standards.

Couple of good points there & it lies in a bit of both.

On Tooths post, agree with that, our undersized lads were so pressured they sent the ball in terribly if at all, our forwards also led to the wrong spots all day to compound things.

& As ToO said our forward pressure was back to the dark old days. I know you think specialist small forwards are a thing of the past ToO. Leysy dissagrees, with the priorirt on forward line pressure a quick little hunter is in vogue. Rioli, Thomas, Campbell, Stokes, Davis, Wonnameari, even Betts etc are all having big influences on there team. Most come cheap, hopefully Cameron has has his eyes around for one.

Given that it appears ALL our fwds are failing to apply fwd pressure, and that it is unlikely that all our fwds possess the same playing flaw, isn't the most likely explanation that this is a result of coaching (Occam's razor)? Not that the directive is to 'not apply fwd pressure', but rather that is is a consequence or side effect of something to do with the way Wallace is trying to get them to play.

Phantom ,i might be asking too much ,but do you know if indeed the graph is showing an upwards trend, when compared to this time last season.
I'm talking about the core statistics eg clearances ,contested balls etc

Sorry I didn't get to this earlier, Sunday night, Dr Who and all that.

Indicators show that we are improving.

Some of the 2008 figures won't be fully available for some time. And there appears to be a clash between the historical Champion Data Stats and the 2008 Pro-Stats in certain areas.

I've also tried to indicate some of the key player / engine room changes that have developed between 2005 to 2008.

More data will be available come end of year.

Hope this helps.

It appears our defence won this game for us.

Hawks went forward a lot compared to us, but we rebounded.

I thought it was a great insight for all into what can happen when a team becomes too focused on the one key forward.

For Hawthorn, they became "Buddy-centic".

In the past, we have been "Richo-centric".

It shows all Tiger supporters how much easier it is to lose when you direct all your attacks towards the one key forward. All the opposing defence needs to do is block him out.

Just as Hawthorn need to learn to share the ball towards different targets, we can learn the same.

That we did with many different goalkickers this last weekend.

Does that mean they should trade Buddy?

( ;D only joking P, after last weeks discussion I couldn't help myself)
