Watters sacked

Yeah because a bloke who has coached a flag and took a team to a GF when they had no right to be there is judged on an interview???? Everyone knows what he brings to the table and if the saints are too stupid to judge a coach on a q&a and not on his record well then they are more *smile* than we thought.

But a great win for us, Choco is so vital to the development of the list.

Did us a favour? This is a club that has only a bounce of a ball for there history.

Excellent appointment, Richardson is a good operator. Leysy actually wanted him for our gig back in the day.

Also big for us that Chocco stays. No doubt we deliberately employed two very young first time development coaches in McQualter & Bailey because they can be tutored by Mark.

He would have left a big hole.

Win/Win all round. Well except for Port.

A record speaks for itself, but it doesn't mean the candidate is a good fit. Remember Malcolm Blight coached St Kilda once as well, how did that turn out. Time will tell whether this is a good appointment or not.

Blight went on to back to back flags but at St Kilda was frustrated and couldn't get out quick enough.

Get around Choco.

Great news he has stayed.

Vlastuin and Dusty and all the young kids will be happy.

No, he won back to back flags with Adelaide from 1997-99 and then went to St Kilda in 2001, which proves the point that appointing a coach on record only would not be a sound approach.

Glad Chocco is staying though.

Main difference was that Blighty had retired from coaching n was looking forward to putting his feet up n playing golf, couldn't resist the million dollar carrot the Saints beat him over the head with.
Chocco has always remained in coaching n been chasing the next senior gig.

We have been roundly criticized as the team who "sacks the coach" (among other things). Do we still hold that title or have St Kilda outperformed us?
A quick search of their history reminded me about Stan Alves, Timmy Watson, Thomas -> Blight -> Thomas and now Watters.

Their record since 2000 is now at the 6th coach compared to our four since 2000. Hopefully the media will note that.

A number of teams are quicker on the trigger than we are these days, it doesn't stop the media from trotting out 'they eat their own at Punt Road' myth every chance they get, though.

We matter. The Saints don't.

So they didn't get their man in Williams due to his demands.

Richardson by default.

Yep. 5 years for a real coach or 3 years for an untried watters type coach ...
They went for the cheap deal.
