i think most people on this thread are very cruel with the criticism about how we have drafted in the past and current draft. With a list as young as ours that shows so much potential all that was needed in this draft was a top up of talls. especially a ruckman, and tall running backman. Hislop and Thompson are definately worth the pick if not only to show the others how to be tougher player. they are something everyone has been telling Wallace to do for a long time (to many soft outside players blah blah).
i think a very good side has been built, think about it. We have the best 'young' defence in the league, probably close to the best 'young' midfielders as well, so if the potential our forwards have, come to fruition we have a b***dy good team.
The players i see most complained about are either project players or ones battling injuries ala JON, Raines etc but if these guys take a few years so be it, i've seen JON do some great stuff for coburg and admittedly bad stuff but he is still quite talanted young (not 21) yet and some players take a little longer.
The 30+ y/o players that will be leaving soon have from what i see ready made replacements already except Richo (cant replace him)
Johnston - Jackson, Thompson, Hislop, Coughlan
Bowden - McMahon, Rance, Post
Brown - White, Tambling, Edwards, Connors
Symmonds - Vickery, Patterson, Putt, Graham.
Here is my team of the future, its getting harder and harder to pick one because we have now what we haven't in a very long time, DEPTH?
B: McGuane - Thursfield - Moore
HB: Post - Rance - Newman
C: Deledio - Tuck - Coughlan?
HF: Tambling - Riewoldt - Connors
F: Morton - Putt - Edwards
R: Vickery - Cotchin - Foley
INT: White - Shulz - Raines - Hislop - Jackson - McMahon - Patterson - - Thompson - Polak?
This team imo is only 1-2 years away maybe even sooner...
Anyway thats my take on it.
