I lived in the City of Frankston between 1993 and 2010 In Carrum Downs and Frankston. Sometimes I had to venture Into the Pines (There’s one road in and one road out) and it’s bit like going into another world.

My eyes have certainly been opened this season to the hype around Nicnat.

Not convinced that's what Martin meant, I heard it too, but I could see an effort to get the fist to the ball, just couldn't see if he managed to handball. Anyway, fully justified in asking how the ump could see it, after all, they couldn't see the "tap" to Riewoldt in last year's QF. After that you would have to assume they are sight impaired!

We must have set up very well last night given the ineffectiveness of their intercept defenders. Just impossible to see this on the TV - they need to get better at choosing camera angles which show some of this.

Dustin Martin is an interesting one. He does really come across as someone who's sole goal is to win. All players want to win, but Martin seems a bit more obsessed, to the extent that, while he is committed to playing the starring role just because he can, that is less important than getting the team a win, even to the extent that he will sacrifice his own play to make the team better. He clearly understands that teams win games, not stars. Stars make a huge contribution, but they can't win a team game on their own - this is one of the factors which make him such a great player.
But I mainly responded to this post for the last sentence. Look at that line up of players out or just returning and still a bit rusty. The opposition should be very scared if we can get even some of them back. Geez, add Astbury down back, Prestia in the middle along with Shedda, wow, great additions to a team already showing it can play well. Bloody hard to see who can be dropped (although a couple of candidates, who would make any other team).

A valuable win, we're in this up to our necks and that's all you can really ask of the team. We are a contender. If we can finish top 4 we are in with a good shot.

DS
I think that’s always been Dustin’s thing. He’s very much a team player. His first goal is to help the team win, not the individual accolades or achievements, he gets those as well, because he’s that damn good. He’s kind of like the anti Dangerfield.

Has anyone heard we just slapped the inform team from the west?
Considering there is 10 million covering the game.
There is a dead silence on the game.

Hope we don't wear Dusty out through so much time in the middle. It was noticeable early in the game that he stopped chasing/failed to chase at all on occasion. Obviously under instruction.

George has just perfectly executed a right foot snap to goal to take the scores to 50-33 with the clock stopped at 9:08 plus time on remaining in Q3.

Nankervis loses the centre bounce tap to Bailey Williams but follows up and hunts Dom Sheed with a winning mixture of tenacity and athleticism. (The latter of which is cause for optimism; Nank might yet hit peak form in the 2020 campaign.)

Sheed watches on incredulously as the ball spills and Thomson Dow’s timely arrival initiates a chain of vintage Richmond ball movement. Castagna and Bolton link in the corridor at incredible velocity. The ball seems to go to the teeth of the tiger goal in an instant. Synapse speed. Soldo is playing full forward. He has the ascendancy and draws a free kick but won the ball anyway. He goals. Vintage Richmond ball movement always results in a goal but this was a combination of heroes not seen in 2017 or 2019.

Dimma isn’t being kind when he keeps both rucks on the field. And he doesn’t waiver at the next bounce. Instead, he arrogantly swaps the magnets. Soldo ruck. Now Nankervis goes to full forward.

NicNat comes back on to stop the rot. And things do go a little better at the centre bounce for the Eagles with their talisman returning to the field. But there is too much heat on the clearance, so the eagles move forward in stuttering increments.

The most influential efforts on this West Coast play are Richmond’s. Bachar smothers. Baker tackles. Marlion mauls and wings Ah-Chee in the Eagle’s pocket. Baw-wull. Free kick.

Unsatisfied with imperiously repelling West Coast’s best attacking effort, Marlion looks further a field and pinpoints Dustin Martin on half back who marks and swivels. Bombs high to half forward. Barrass flies high at a spoil but that makes things worse. Aarts prowls then pounces on the crumb. Graham menaces on the outside and surges forward to receive. He draws an undisciplined free from Barrass, who takes a cheap shot in clear frustration at the lack of support at the fall. Graham gets a clear kick off to the new full forward Toby Nankervis before being decked, and Nank receives a down field free kick on a tight angle. On the left footer’s side. He goals.

Full forward is a cushy job at Richmond. Just ask the ruckmen. But this period of play was all Dimma laying down the law to one of the game’s premier tacticians in Adam Simpson.

Mr Magnanimous has been a little bit less so of late. And against West Coast he didn’t let the football do the talking. He deliberately involved himself to brag in front of a serious rival. And at the stroke of three quarter time, the cameras cut to a close up with Adam Simpson with his head in his hands.

Beautifully written there @Gypsy__Jazz ... peaceful.... like a bedtime story.

You're too kind, AOC. And you're right to ask for more Dusty. Our gastronomic propensity knows no satiety when it comes to Richmond's No. 4

What I will say is that it was fantastic to see Dusty own a difficult opportunity and try to Jack Newnes a shot at goal at a critical stage in the premiership quarter against one of our major rivals. As it happened he was entitled to the free anyway. But Dusty is such a prodigiously talented kick that we want him taking shots inside 50 rather than deferring to his teammates. It was great to see him owning that responsibility.

Noblesse oblige. Dusty is a nob and it's his duty to oblige. In a COVID year he has struggled for fitness and confidence since the restart. But his composure with that assured unorthodox check side punt could be the catalyst for a late run to a second chance.

I'm on my 6th watch of the second half, TS. The tigers play a little bit of football this time of year, don't they?
