used to like watching the cats under Bomber Thompson - had some likeable players (Scarlett, Chapman, enright, corey) and played a good brand of football. wanted them to win those flags especially in 2011. Now I can't stand them under Scott. Their game plan is boring and some of their players like hawkins, selwood, dangerfield, rohan, miers have as much appeal as their coach.
agree with this 100%

Essendon fans were some of the most vocal when the Tigers were gone for 2021 ..........gone with 3 flags in 4 years mind you.

They just broke a few more records of their own that arent too flash ha ha ha.

Long may they they mire in mediocrity.

Rumor has it Shiel might be on the way out of the Drughouse.
overrated dud.
Between him and Treloar Im not sure who is the worse kick.
The best player to come out of GwS is Townsend by the length of the flemington straight.
Didn't cost us anything and put together a group of games together these 2 would dream about

There should never be "examples".
Decisions and penalties must be made to the letter of the rules....nothing else!
Making examples means decisions and penalties are subjective and this means bias and corruption gets a look in.

Camberwell
Jesse Hogan and Aliir Aliir both proving to be inspired trading decisions. Both played critical roles in finals wins on the weekend. Great list management.
Especially when you consider that Hogan essentially replaced Cameron. Would be somewhat ironic if he kicked a bag this weekend and Cameron has a quiet game

Essendon Bombers slam fan’s disgusting act following elimination final loss to Western Bulldogs

The Essendon Bombers have attempted to contact a fan who did something ‘appalling’ following the side’s elimination final loss.
The Essendon Bombers have called out an “appalling” instance of racial abuse directed at forward Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti over the weekend.
In a statement released Monday, the club said it had attempted to contact a fan who made racist comments about McDonald-Tipungwuti on social media following Essendon’s elimination final loss to the Western Bulldogs.
The Bombers said their attempts to contact the individual had been ignored.

“Vilification, racial or otherwise, has absolutely no place in our society. This must stop now, and it starts with all of us in calling out this vile behaviour,” the club’s statement read.

“The Essendon Football Club stands in total solidarity with McDonald-Tipungwuti and will continue its fight against racism.

“It has to stop.”

Bulldogs star Cody Weightman was also targeted with “unsavoury comments” on the weekend, which the Bombers condemned in their statement.

Weightman kicked four goals from four free kicks in his side’s 49-point win.
“It is hurtful, unnecessary, and not in the spirit of our great game,” Essendon’s statement read.

On Monday evening, McDonald-Tipungwuti released a statement of his own on Instagram.

“As a society we should never define anyone by the colour of their skin, religion, race, culture or ability. In Australia we are one people and a diverse community that should be galvanising together instead of ripping each other apart,” McDonald-Tipungwuti he wrote.

“My family and I like many others are separated by distance and Covid restrictions which has made this year very difficult for all. We all feel isolated and we should be using our words to unite us in the face of adversity.”

McDonald-Tipungwuti was one of Essendon’s brightest stars earlier in the season as the club outshone pre-season expectations of Ben Rutten’s first year as senior coach.

The star forward missed the club’s final two regular season games as well as its elimination final, citing personal reasons for his absence.

Reality is Bombers were about 12th in true standard,so result was as expected.
Above them should have been Tigers, Saints and Eagles and possibly Freo.
So Essendon were poor all year and lost to Dogs who were 4th in reality until AFL helped Lions to overtake them.
Result as would be expected. Nothing to be hung up about...to quote the fab 4.

I don't agree that Toby did anything wrong.
Firstly, he never changed direction and never made any move at the umpire.
Second, eyes were on the ump because he was speaking to him.
Third, what was the umpire doing walking amongst the GWS group who were all heading in the same direction.

The umpire got in the way of the players and in Tobys path.
Green is not obliged to change his own path and walk around him..is he?

No contact initiated by Green. Umpire walked into his path.

But, this is the generation of not being responsible for ones own actions but blaming others for your own error.
Umpires error, not Toby's.
Absolute *smile*. Toby deliberately shoulders him. The giveaway is Toby does not move his gaze or act surprised. Moronic action by Toby and equally moronic post.

it is TM, but they'll try it all on ...
yes Tobes will go, but i really hate the 'example' thing, it gets to be like school ...
Yep, make the right call on 1 to educate 100. Giving Toby at least 4 weeks sounds like a pretty good message to me. It would only be a bad example if the penalty was excessive like 10+ weeks but the AFL have made it harder for themselves by handing out fines in recent years instead of weeks so there will be reform after this. They need to spell out their definitions better.
