Weight and height gains

Did Chris Newman really grow 1cm? I'd have thought he was past the age of getting taller! Or maybe he just stood up straighter this year!

Apparently the rod was too long. He has to stand on his toes on his good leg or he tips over!!

Haaaarrgh! nice one Frick. Need to get out the angle grinder and trim him up a bit.

Can our skipper afford to add 4Kg? At times last season I thought he looked a bit slow. Does this mean Terry has a new role for him?

I don't think it is anything to be concerned about poppa x. He is looking very fit this year and i would imagine the 4kg is mainly upper body muscle.
Remember hearing KJ say he wanted to get it a bit more going back the other way this year. Rather than being a mainly defensive tagger. So I guess he just wanted to be stronger through the body. However I did float the idea of someone like Polo doing KJ's tagging job in some games, allowing KJ to be an attacking midfielder again. So of course the extra weight would be handy to break tags as well as make them.
That's all assuming the figures are reliable, eg Foley: says he has lost 3kg's, but on the track he looks like a mini adonis, ball of muscle. Now from the SFA I know about health and fitness I do know this; muscle weighs more than fat.
Either way KJ looks pretty fit on the track.

thanks.

I'm not sure how accurate these stats are but seeing Nathan Brown for the first time yesterday at training confirms the fact to me that Brown hasn't yet reached his physical peak as he was before his injury. Stats show he is 3 kgs below his weight compared to maybe to his 2005 weigh in. Nathan's leg definition is lighter than 2005 and personally I don't think we will see him at full strength as he was once upon a time, what sort of magic he produces on the ground is different story.

I am also hoping that the 2kgs off Krak means that his motor has improved whcih will hopefully increase his possession rate. Other than that I am hoping that list is wrong because other than a few notable exceptions it means some tall players who really need to bulk up significantly - yet again haven't.

Anyone proof that the player has reached a good height-weight ration is in a game not on the training track. Doubt McGuane or Moore are at their right weights though.

This is an excellent list. It would have been better though if ages had also been included. Of all the statistics Hughes and JONs are the most encouraging whilst Meyers is obviously the most worrying (our pick 12 is really beginning to look shaky). In the future the one to look out is definitely Riewoldt. His slightly inbetween size is the main reason he slipped down the draft. Let's hope and pray that there is a growth spurt left in him. If there is he seriously could be anything.
what inbetween size tygrys riedwoldt is 192 cm genuine kpp height. at 86kg thats not bad for a lad about to enter his first season. geez hughes came to the club at 193cm and 84kg and no one questioned if hes genuine kpp height.

Meyer's weight is listed currently listed at 70kgs on the 'updated' RFC website. Either he's gained/lost 6kgs over the las season or we can't exactly rely on the information on WTs well intentioned post.
There always seems to be a vast inconsistency of information out there re players height & weight increases.

I dont know about the weight, however I wouldnt take all the height measurements as gospel.

I'm 183 cm's and am probably an inch or more taller than Cogs yet he is listed at 186...

Perhaps they get measured with their boots on with extra longs stops...

Cleaver is an exciting prospect thats for sure ...... the kid definately has the ability hes a natural.

Geez Ripple,
When I spoke with Cogs last year at Club80, he was way taller than 5'11''.
6'1'', or slighly taller seemed pretty right to me.
