Welcome Noah Cumberland

You're the one who's said this... "What is your opinion on Mansell and Hugo’s last few weeks????"

He's only going to give his opinion on those players if he's asked about them and he wasn't. So what's your issue again?
I have had an issue since round 1 when he didn’t get picked.
His form since he got picked has vindicated my opinion.
I have been critical of Mansell and Hugo - and after being at the North Melbourne practice match which I assume you weren’t- could not believe Mansell got picked ahead of him.

What Cumberland did early tonight was something young players rarely do in the first quarter of a massive game - not in dead time of the game.
Hardwick again was less than enthusiastic about his efforts.
He chased well tonight, had 9 tackles last week.
In my opinion he said yeah well done on the 3 goals - what choice did he have - but with zero enthusiasm and couldn’t wait to tell us all how much work he still had to do.

Dimma doesn't like him and guarantee you the first game he doesnt kick a goal he will be back in the 2s.

What…. ??
You: "You could say this about 18 of the players."
Me: "I thought this thread was about Noah Cumberland."

Anyway, I think people just jump to conclusions and attempt to make things fit to whatever narrative they've made up in their head.

That was directed at ‘its not his job to give player’s a pat on the back..’. That’s funny

I'd back Dimma in to know what motivates the players. Some people respond better to tough love while others need a cuddle.
Clearly he sees the talent in Cumbo, he said it multiple times. He responded well to being dropped early in the year, 14 tackles the last 2 weeks.
Fantastic 1st quarter tonight and another 3 tackles by HT then donuts in the 2nd half.
He could be anything and Dimma knows it,, the clip won't hurt. It'll be an interesting watch to see how he responds next week.

You can see Dimma is being critical as he sees more potential than is being delivered at the moment.

But I do think there comes a time when Dimma needs to go back to some of his comments a few years back when he talked about concentrating on players' strengths. Cumberland has many strengths, is young and inexperienced. He also plays one of the toughest roles in football, the mid sized forward. Very difficult position to play.

I would like to see the balance more towards encouragement. Not uncritical, but give Cumbo some credit.

It was the best of Cumbo it was the worst of Cumbo.

Noah is Gary Ablett at times. A fortnight ago and tonight. Who was he the rest of the time? We want him to become somebody else the rest of the time. I think he'll do that.

His first quarter was electric (second goal was lucky Lever infringed on the mark - that angle is tailor-made for his hook around the corner, dunno why he went the drop punt). Looked to be doing the defensive stuff from the stats and what you could see on the telly. More than seven touches would be nice. Bit of a hypochondriac. As Dimma said, can and does tear holes in games, then goes missing for a half or three quarters. A lot to work with, far from the finished product (we hope).
