Welcome Noah Cumberland

Meanwhile we have players in the side like Dusty n Shai who rarely tackle n somehow can't seem to score either this year. So that'd make them fairly close to useless for the money they earn.

Sometimes it's simply about having some balance to your game and extra strings to your bow that'll help to make you a better all round footballer. Cummerbund as a young beginner is simply having his game capabilities rounded out, by teaching him he has to chase, tackle and stay focused on the next not the previous. Similarly, what Moju needs at the moment as the only aspect of the game he has got is trying to chase down opponents who have the pill really quickly. As a youngster still learning his craft he needs to learn the opposite of Cummerbund, how to get the pill, make decisions and execute them to round out his game.
Agree. You can add that MRJ is often not too sure what to do with the pill when he does get it. Struggles to choose the best option, tries to do too much and loses it or caught. It doesn't help that his kicking seems very ordinary too with limited depth.

Yes, I really don't like that silly turn half-sideways run up. It's not working for him at all IMO, just throws his alignment out probably, reduces balance.
Of course, if we had anyone to be a skills coach, he might never have got into this weird habit.

Dees have Chocco Williams as their goalkicking coach. Who do we have?

Just imagine if the Bozos selected Van Hooganband.
We would have 2 of the best young forwards in the comp.

**$50 bucks he will be at Freo/WC in 3 yrs.
Melbourne can't hold onto players

Hogan, Farmer, Tingay

Yep, and isn't it great that our forward line is now made up of players who tackle instead of score.

4th lowest points scored in the league and 16th on the ladder.

But let's keep making sure our forward line players' main priority is to tackle.

It might even net us the 2017 premiership.
A lot of medium forwards have burst into the scene only to disappear just as quickly because all they could do was kick goals and nothing else. Cumberland is a talent but needs to be involved in more ways than just scoring if he wants to have a long career.

What? You want balanced footballers with rounded games? You want coaches to support guys to work on weaknesses? Crazy talk.

Cumbo had 15 pressure acts

Hopper had 8 (not sure what he was doing)
Mansell 10
Jack R had 7
Short had 3
Grimes 6
Vlaustin 9
Taranto 32.
Dusty 21. tick

MJR the great pressure man had 13 prior to being injured

Cumbo stacks up pretty well, Jack being lauded only had about 4 more possessions.

Cumbo Could have had 4 goals if he wanted as well

I feel for Noahs folks.

Their boy sets a game alight, and he gets a medium rare roast from the coach.

I understand the concept of public tough love,

And i understand dimma is an all time great triple premiership man manager.

Stay in the game longer? 1. History is littered with great 30 minute impact players 2. Noah stayed in the game almost exactly as long as JVR and 3. Theres a sub-rule now

If every forward kicked 3 in a quarter, theres 18 goals.

Personally, id push 3 goalless quarters and 1 eighteen goal quarter every week if there was a button

Im not jumping on the Dimma's-lost-it wagon.

Far from it. Id sign him until 2050 if it was up to me.

But i reckon mr and mrs cumberland would have called noahs manager and sworn a fair bit on monday night.

Great EZyT perfectly said.

Could make you a 'Dimma Hater' in some PRE eyes though, so glad you reinforced your affection for him

I do get what you are saying but Noah had 5 kicks in the first quarter, and then had 2 for the rest of the match, 1 when he kicked it out on the full and the 2nd in the 4th when his kick across goal was smothered.

I don't think Dimma is saying that he wants 3 goals a quarter at all, what he wants is more than 2 touches in 3 quarters and he is trying to work with Noah on that one. He knows he has it, you indicate it as a medium rare roast, I'd say at best it was a cold roast. He actually spoke glowing in terms of Noah for most of the interview (when pressed on Noah) and clearly knows how good Noah can be, and he wants to make sure that he helps Noah become that player we know he can be, instead of a flash in the pan like we get with many players.

A bit of an overreaction to Dimma's presser, i re-listened and there were platitudes as well as a few truths on what it will take for him to get there, a little strange he aired publicly but you'd hope he'd know what makes a player tick and what will challenge Noah.

Dimma quotes:

"He can be as good as he wants that kid"

"He can be a difference maker for our club"

Pre-enders asking why Dimma didn't pick on the likes of Mansell  ? I would say that it is pretty obvious, could you apply the above quotes to Mansell?, NO he is what he is and despite his endeavour is limited.

Let's hope Noah on the other hand is driven by the challenge to become the player we all want him to become.

He also wasn't asked about Mansell, so why would he mention him in the presser? He was asked specifically about Cumbo.

Balance? A little but it's proabably as tough as I've ever heard Dimma on one of our players personally so I don't really think it's an overreaction.
He seemed a bit more emotional about it than usual. Almost flustered, maybe not flustered but definitely frustrated.

The difference is that he rarely uses that sort of vernacular on Richmond players. There is something different about Cumbo in that respect.
