Welcome to Richmond - Jayden Short

Pic 11 - Jayden Short (Northern Knights)

Age: 18
Height: 179cm
Weight: 71kg
Position: Forward

An exceptional kick on either side of his body, Short's kicking ability has been likened to that of Hawthorn star Sam Mitchell. He averaged almost 22 possessions a game in the TAC Cup and finished the season as one of the competition's most efficient ball-winners. A broken jaw interrupted the start of his year and meant he missed selection for Vic Metro. But he had an impressive season nonetheless, displaying terrific speed and agility to go with his elite kick. He was played mainly off the wing this year, but can move forward or into the middle.

Just saw his highlight reel on RFC website, has good pace and his kicking is sublime....

What stood out in those clips is just how dual sided he is. You need to see him take a set shot on goal in front just to work out what his preferred is.

I saw highlight video too
Was that our new boy Mckenzie that kept getting the ball from short?
Good duo to keep together!

Am I right, is he kicking to our McKenzie, in quitea few of those clips? Handy that they've played together.

Hey Scoop, we got your man. Great pick up

Stoked pal. Absolutely rapt. The type we are screaming out for. The biggest hole on the list has been attended too. Small forward. Long way to go till he makes it but he's the perfect prototype to work with.

KNew those late night calls to Frank would pay off.

Still, got to start somewhere. Love him or hate him, Stevie Milne was certainly an elite small forward and also came through the rookie list path. Must have seemed a bit unpolished when the Saints first grabbed him.

Impressive stats at the lower level. DE a standout and good with both feet apparently.
Hopefully makes the transition to the pressure cooker that is AFL but on the face of it looks a good pick.
Crying out for a small forward so hopefully one of McDonough, Lloyd, Butler or Short work out..

like how he can kick around corners from one step. he's the type that can find small gaps in the forward 50.
