Still wasn't a bad pick IMO, the 2018 draft was quite weak after pick 19ish.

Had the potential, just didn't get there
Have to disagree on this. RCD was always a speculative selection and should not have been a first round pick. What he was in the u18, was what he became in the AFL system. Flashy but very inconsistent and generally lacking the output needed to make it as a midfielder.

It seems like AFL recruiters become love struck teenagers when they see an athletic tall over 195cm or an athletic midfielder over 190cm. If RCD was 5cm shorter, he’d have struggled to get a rookie spot.

Can never beat the Dees.
2 chances to get the Goat.
But that gets swept under the carpet.
Billings over Bompmytelly is pretty bad too.
That's a flag down the drain job..but we are taking about stkilda.
They couldn't win a flag with lockett. That's how shiit they were.

That's a bit of a rediculous argument. Of course it mattered he was that big - that was part of the attraction. It's like saying if Chris Judd ran a 3.20 20m sprint or if Lynch was 4 inches shorter, they wouldn't have gone first round. Of course they wouldn't - they'd be entirely different players. Physical attributes count, that's the whole reason for the whole draft camp/testing process.

It was fine to pick him as he had been highly rated and filled a list need. People like to re-write history because we have hindsight.
Some had him in the top 10 in phantom drafts. One write up of his abilities here: https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/riley-collier-dawkins/

Of those behind him, very, very few stand outs.:
Ely Smith, Xavier O'Halloran, Jez McLennan, Bobby Hill, James Rowbottom, Rhylee West, Tom Sparrow
Xavier O'Neill, Will Kelly (F/S - Pies), Will Hamill, Luke Foley, Luke Valente, James Jordon, Kieren Briggs (Academy selection)
Bailey Williams, Tom Berry, Laitham Vandermeer, Irving Mosquito, Jarrod Cameron (Academy selection)
Tom Joyce, Jack Bytel, Connor McFadyen (Academy selection), Jack Ross
