Very very good - no media picked that up. Amazed Cornes didn’t.
Oh yeah, on Footy Classified Cornes said Taranto wasted the footy and needs to get better - and he is on ‘watch.’ Also that he didn’t think he deserved coaches votes
Really?
Bloke has a serious hatred of us.
Bizarre.
Can only imagine what he would think had we recruited a key forward on big dollars with output like Dixon

Taranto playing well doesn’t fit Cornes narrative. He’ll never admit the RFC made the correct decision even if he wins multiple brownlows and premierships.

On Cornes - didnt think he deserved coaches votes. How does he think he can judge who the coaches value?
The coach thinks he played well, Cornes can disagree But to say doesn't deserve it is maddening.
Anyway back on Tarantino. Played a very good game
Taranto -
First in AFL Fantasy Voting for the game.
First for Disposals.
Second most Kicks.
Third most Handballs.
Third most Tackles - he had 8.
Third most Total Clearances.
Fourth most Metres Gained.
Pressure Acts - he's classed as a forward on AFL stats he's 11th in that category, if you say he's a Mid he comes in 20th for Pressure Acts.

He did everything man. How can you argue he doesn't deserve a vote from the five best on the ground being so strong in so many categories of the game.
You're an absolute flog if you argue against all that!!

There was also an article last week on the afl site where all new recruits were ranked. Who knows what data they used as tarantula was right down the bottom behind hopper. Travesty.

That was AFL Player Ratings for Round 1.

I'm not sure who their supplier is, but definitely need to find out where they're getting their stuff from .
Must be Aaron Rodgers 'ayahuasca' psychedelic type stuff, heard that's pretty good stuff man :eyes

Now if Jack Riewoldt is rated highest for Richmond last week, that rating system is definitely on something strong!! :mhihi
Ben Miller had a better game than Daniel Rioli and Taranto :bash:ROFLMAO:

1679717454718.png

This is even more disturbing with their rating system :poop:

Taranto - 32 disposals, 18 kicks, 14 handballs, 3 marks, 8 tackles, 5 total clearances, 23 Pressure Acts, 542 metres gained.
Fisher - 7 disposals, 1 goal, 5 kicks, 2 handballs, 1 mark, 0 tackles, 1 total clearance, !0 Pressure Acts, 159 metres gained gets U 7 Ratings Points.
Silvagni - 5 disposals, 2 kicks, 3 handballs, 2 marks, 2 tackles, 2 hit outs, 1 total clearance, 11 Pressure Acts, 53 metres gained.

Apart from kicking a goal each to Tim's zero, and a couple of hit outs to Silvagni, he smashes them in every facet of the game.

Now in what world are the ratings of 7 for Taranto equal Fisher's game of 7 and Silvagni getting a touch below him with a 6!!
32 disposals to SOS 5, 8 tackles to 2, 5 clearances to 1, 23 PA's to 11, 53 metres gained to 542?
What world man? :bash

Kicking was putrid.
If we’re honest, yes it was.

Pretty similar to last week. Good game, impactful, but too many hack kicks without need.

Can almost guarantee a few media people pointing this out next week.

Pretty good game though. Needs to get tidier to be A+.

After reading the game day thread it seems a few PREnders will be coming out and supporting old Kano on this one!
Yeah because the game day thread is the bastion of objectivity and carefully considered insight around here.

Another great game from Taranto. 28 disposals, 11 contested possessions, 7 clearances (5 centre clearances), 8 tackles, 7 inside 50’s, 33 pressure acts. Also covered 15km which was the most of any player on the ground.

Taranto is a star and eventually the rest of the league will wake up to it.

Understand the angst with some of Taranto’s kicks inside 50 but he does everything else really well. Tidy up his kicking, or just kick within his limitations, and he’ll be elite A2574EFD-5B44-4F53-914B-B5D7793872AB.pngB07B0D88-90B3-44BA-90A8-9569751EC916.png

Looked exhausted at the end.
And pretty flat at the start too.
Big emotional curve to play his first game with us so no surprise 2nd game is flatter.
Was very involved, improvement to come with his kicking /taking time under pressure

Add Prestia to that list.
I thought he was playing for Adelaide after half time

I know everyone, particularly the media are obsessed with targeting anything to do with Richmond, particularly Kano, but if anyone wants to go hard on Taranto for his kicking, there's a lot more credentialled targets to fire shots at as well man ;)

Kicking Efficiency - 2023 Stats Only
If Brownlow Medallists are your bastion of studs in the game, your best players, then what hope do the rest of them playing have :p
And get him to stop distracting and looking away from Mr 40% Brownlow Medallist from Poor-t Adelaide!!
How's the other big recruit Dunkley in Brisbane get ignored at 47% while Taranto's at 52%?
A bit shocked by what I see below, but this year's 'Rookie of The Year' favourite has not started off his career with accurate kicking:censored:
