The catalyst for chaos was swarming pressure. Hard to swarm an uncontested mark when you have to STAND.
You can still swarm the loose ball, and the ball carrier, and get numbers to the next contest, and swarm to plug holes. I think we over corrected way too much away from our core game plan where we should have tinkered slightly persisting with the fundamentals of our system. Reckon Dimma has realised this also. Interesting to see what he does next.

Yep. He has had some decent years for sure but his hand balling is diabolical. It’s like the ball slips off his hand when he hits it. Constantly misses targets these days by hand, handballs at players feet.
it drives me crazy
Maybe send over to the Melbourne Rebels for some specialist training so he can handballs with the precision and accuracy of the Dogs & Cats

its all about pressure acts
Whatever that is George is right up there Some say hes #1 in the league
Funny how people keep referencing “pressure acts” to justify his game.
I doubt many people know what constitutes a “pressure act”.
”Who” says he’s #1 in the league?

Castagna (230) is actually behind Jack Graham (392) ranked (1) in the league and Liam Baker (254) at Richmond
Next best Pickett (213) and Aarts (210)

Of those 5 ,I wonder how many most would say are having a good year Willo ? For me Bakes has been solid, the others arent travelling so well , I think it’s time we found some speed, class , attack , not saying re shape our game just tweak ….Parker, Stack are 2 that would ad that straight away

Castagna 28 metres gained from 13 disposals. Does anyone remember him doing any 50metre passes backwards?

He had a few 2 metre handballs at 45 deg forward that actually reached a target. A few at their feet. So not much forward metres gained.
I doubt he could kick 50 metres in any direction and hate to see him try it backwards. It could go anywhere from the wing to fullback. Or anywhere within 179 degrees from where he kicked it :D

George was custom-built for chaos footy.
I think he's also built to tackle like Towner and bump like Stack. So why do we never see it? Strong, solid, fast - he should be able to put a bit of hurt on a few blokes every game.

I'd also like to think he could sometimes be given a run-with role in the midfield. He started off in defence and knows how to run both ways.

Should be in the prime of his career given the incredible experience he has gained, and the calibre of the team he's been part of. We should be seeing at least 10% improvement in skills and smarts year on year.

Thoughts?

I not sure if he can read the play well enough. He’s a see ball, get ball player.
He runs around enough he can find it occasionally, but I think he runs where the footy ain’t, too often.
Lack of footy IQ and smarts, he’s more reactive at seeing the play rather than reading it. It’s also why on occasions he flies for ball against the talls instead of being there to crumb. Awareness?
With his build, endurance and pace it’s a wonder he doesn’t lay “more hurt on” and be rewarded for it. But he’s too often chasing (hence his “pressure points”) but not actively gaining possession.
With 112 games, I doubt whether his footy IQ and smarts have improved 10% over the time, let alone 10% year on year.
He does have games where he does well, he never lacks endeavou, but hes still lacking in a lot of the fundamentals.
As a run with player? I’m not confident he would read the play and would be lost, forever chasing tail. But of course, one mans opinion doesn’t make it fact. Merely an opinion.

Yeh, the new stand has had a massive impact on our pressure game. After injuries it’s had the biggest impact on our pressure game. AFL x is around the corner.

The most obvious answer is he's not built to tackle like Towner and bump like Stack.

I'd take a bullet for this bloke. Adore him.

But we have to face reality. He's not in good form.

If we can drop Rioli then we can drop George. He's completely devoid of confidence
