Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Apparently Gold Coast are willing to give up pick 5 for an experienced player. Castagna's experienced, whatcha reckon?

Trade if any club is silly enough. Gone backwards in 2021. Hasn’t improved two grab marking, can’t find ball & running to where ball isn’t. Would prefer Parker or even Caddy to him.

Well we’ve got plenty of experience to offer. Maybe even a package of them.
Castagna….jewel in the crow…at least some believe that
Caddy…..oh wait…well they took one of old ruckman back
Aarts….ya gotta make sacrifices
Garthwaite…some, well a little experience
Miller….has got his long service leave finally. Hope they don’t look at only AFL experience.
Tell em to take their pick or picks
We might even Chuck a coupla 3rd rounders in to help out with any academy kids. Or even a 2nd if they twist our arm hard enough.

George kicked his 1 goal That triggers a free pass for him to escape scrutiny for the next 12 games

He’s a very limited footballer.

We had a game plan that made him shine. But at the same time you wondered how many other teams would he actually get a game at?

Right now l would expect the answer to be none but us.

Harsh thing to say about a 3 time premiership hero, but that’s where he’s at right now imo.

Really disappointing.
Plays like a scared nervous cat.
I really thought his 2019 GF would give him the confidence to become a regular contributor.
No he is as bad as Rioli and Aarts.

Hang on. No. Wait.

Sit down. Relax. We are, after all students. We can think. Students of the game.

A side that can't get a kick. A side, recently flogged by the second worst side, once gods of the game this side now cannot play even to VFL levels.

And the small forward pocket is the root cause?

Let's go on with this a little more.

Some saw this coming. Some saw it too late.

But no thinking human ever attributed Richmond's demise to the loss of form of a small forward pocket.

*But I do*.

Consider this criticism.

A bit of a misnomer to label him a “small forward pocket” .
If he is only that, tell him to pressure, tackle and crumb. Not to compete with his own ruckman for a mark on the wing. (And gave away the free to the opposition when Chol had the mark.
He may not be the “root cause” but he’s got to take his lumps with the rest of his underperforming teammates. He doesn’t get a free pass. His game is there to be critiqued. It’s warranted when his form has dropped off.

Castagna fitted our 2017-2020 game plan perfectly, fit, manic in applying tackles and pressure, could take the odd mark from a turnover in midfield, kicked a few goals, covers the ground.

It's not his fault we are where we are but he doesn't seem to have the tricks to adapt to wherever it is we have to go from here.
