Well done umpies!!

So what do you all reckon about the no holding the ball decisions all day? Thought this made for a quicker game with less angst from the players. Strange that they did not seem to pull the ball in, but rather tried hard to knock it out. Quite different to the rest of the season.

Its amazing how much better umpiring is when your team is not playing !
I thought umpires have good at a pass rate 70% and if you allow them to make a couple of mistakes like we do for ourselves spectating, the players and commentators then we have less to worry about it.

You could see on at least 3 occasions in the first half he was forced under the ball with a shove in the back from Barry.

Rubbish - if Gardiner (199cm 99kg) gets absolutely towelled up by Leo Barry (184cm 88kg) he has no-one to blame but himself. Didn't want the ball, constantly ran underneath it looking for the free kick. Well done Leo.

I think the umpies did a good job & believe me I don't like them much. I reckon a mate of mine has the best job description for them. For many years he has emphatically said that "the umpires should bounce the bl&%#y ball & then pi$$ off"
This I must say always cracks me up.
By the way he is a dyed in the wool Sth Melb/Swans supporter, I have not been able to locate him since the final siren on Saturday ;D ;D ;D

My only beef with the umps on Grand Final day was Scott Mclaren taking the game ball of Leo Barry. C'mon after those frantic final moments surely the AFL could let him keep the game ball.  :(

Barry would have not thought much of it at the time but in twenty years time im sure he would love to have it on his mantle piece.

In defence of Mclaren im sure the umps would be instructed to do that though i would no idea why unless it gets auctioned off for charity or something along those lines.
