West Coast Tankers

Well it all comes down to this weekend re the West Coast tanking theory.

If they lose to Melbourne and keep the priority pick 18 the tank theory will gain weight but if they lose it would seem unlikely that they tanked at all and just had a crap season.

You would expect that they would win given their recent form so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Dunno. Would have been easier for them to tank the Essendon game than the Melbourne one.

WCE have announced that Adam Hunter and Brett Jones will not play again this season after they were booked in for "much needed" surgery next week.

I am rapidly losing faith in the integrity of the competition. "Say it ain't so, Joe" :(
Can't blame them,I'd be doing the same thing.

The Worst Coached Eagles have Melbourne in the west this weekend.

If they win this game they get five for the season and do not qualify for a bonus pick before round two. Even if the draw they lose the pick.

So maybe they've been tanking all year. If so that's a major concerted effort over a season, eh? So then it shouldn't be too hard for them to stage one meagre loss this week, should it?

If WCE win this week the case that they are not tanking but are just *smile* is carried. Argument over.

And if they lose they are tanking but still might be *smile*.

Either way the argument is settled after this game.

The tanking argument would suggest that Melbourne can afford to win this week but WC can't. I wonder what the bookies make of all this?

The tanking theory does not fly in 2008.

There are just some shocking sides. WCE will win this week and have 5 wins. That is bad but not tanking bad.

Talk about ballsing it up. The game is in Melbourne, of course. MCG.

Anways Sportsbet has them $1.85 each ATM. TOT.

Does this mean that they are trying to discourage betting on this game? That would be the shortest odds for both teams in quite a while. I would have thought that WC would be favourites based on last week's results.

Thats the TAB for ya TOT.

$1.85 each, nice edge they've got.

betfair goes Dees $2.02 WC $1.97

I’ve made up my mind, and have made a considerable investment on the basis of my judgment.

However, I’ll be happy to be wrong.

That sounds a bit better.

IMO, this club has become the disgrace of the AFL.

It's so bloody obvious that they tanked today and in other previous games this year.

How does a premiership team of only 2 years ago become so hopeless so quickly to play a season in the bottom 3 when 75% of their premiership players are still in the team?

Don't forget years ago, how they purposefully gave a game or two away in some Geelong games at Skilled Stadium only because they felt too close to the Geelong community crowd. (TACTICS: Play soft, don't get injured, let them win and we'll be 100% for next week).

Top skilled players such as Cousins, Kerr, Gardiner etc... under weak surveillance by the club and are free to get pissed, drugged etc..

Judd promoted to captaincy and then wants to leave when he did nothing wrong and nothing wrong happened to him. Why leave?

Worsfold criticised Thomas for calling West Coast 'tankers' in the paper this week, but, for once I back Thomas on this.

They didnt tank today, they're just playing like sh!ite and the players dont give a sh!te.

Anyhow tanking is found exclusively in the coaches box and unlike jug ears Ratten last year, who blatantly tanked, Worsfold is at least trying.

Jury is in on this one IMO.

Tanked.

Agree, early this week I put by far the biggest bet I have ever made for Melbourne to win on the weekend. The tankers did not disappoint.

Woosha may be offended by the tanking comments, but no one else at Wet Coke gives a fat rats clacker.
There is some serious rebuilding of core integrity required at that club.

I find the tanking talk amusing....afterall....weren't some PRE regulars demanding that we tank the year out?

I dont care whether the Weagles were tanking or not....I just hope they stay down in the sewer for a long long long time. I'd sooner see Freo have success before the Weagles.

I wouldn't expect anything less from the WCE. This is a club who turned a blind eye to systematic drug abuse in it's club for years.

Dirt rotten scoundrels probably did tank. :(

Two certain losses against the Hawks and the Cats could possibly even see the Tankers pick up the #1 pick, given the Dees could quite possibly stage an upset in their last two matches.

Any lingering doubt of the tank has probably been shattered by the Blues & the Eagles the past two seasons.
