PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

I now live in Perth and as such I have already had too much exposure to the WCE.

However Andrew Embly was on the radio on the way to work this morning.

He was saving that WCE have flow over a kicking coach from England for a couple of weeks (Dave Aldred).
I was really impressed with this.
Dave Aldred is the kicking coach of Johhny Wilkinson and David Beckham among others.

Thought that i was a really smart move - one that RIchmond would never make but one we could probably never justify financially (even though we probably need it more than most).

There is an article in the west about it too is you want to know more.

But this is probably the only extract that is important for this topic

West Coast have invited rugby union kicking expert David Aldred to the club to work with the players, and he addressed the squad yesterday.

Braun said Aldred focused on visualisation more than technique.

“He’s worked with the likes of David Beckham, so he knows what he’s talking about,” Braun said.

“It’s all above the shoulders. It’s actually thinking that you can kick goals and visualising you kicking the goal, relaxing and making contact with the ball.

“It’s not rocket science but it’s good to have someone drilling it into you. “He talks a little bit about technique. Obviously, it’s the way your body moves and your momentum and how you kick the ball. “It’s pretty high tech and we’ll get a lot out of him.”
