West Sydney

Rather than West Sydney,a new team should be located in the Albury/Wodonga region. The Lavington sports club would be ideal to redevelop at minimal cost, and guarantee a 30K plus crowd every game played. This would also be great for the local economy. If Geelong can sustain their own ground with a population of 250K,this region surely can as well.

i would have thought that sort of population could be more suited to an a-league franchise.

West Sydney will be an unmitigated failure imo and will cost the AFL more $$$ than the Swans ever have.

Gold Coast worth a shot but Western Sydney :thumbdown

Bring in a Tassie side but thats so passe and myopic i spose.

Sheesh even Canberra has a better AFL culture than Western Sydney and they wont ever get a side.

Port adelaide have managed to win a recent flag, regularly play finals, are one of the oldest, most successful teams in footy, and from a footy mad state and they need a hand out to survive. How can West Sydney stand up?

Please guys :'(

30,000 to a game in Albury/Wodonga does not quantify success/growth - ANYTHING.

It merely means that 30,000 AFL supporters live in the area

FFS - why not have an AFL team in Bendigo - or Ballarat????

The AFL is thinking strategically - and some of you are talking Ma and Pa kettle :rofl
Last time I looked at the word FORUM,it meant a discussion of sorts.Remind me again what does FFS mean?
I would also suggest the Ma & Pa Kettle approach to be far more fullfilling.Sold any sub-prime stuff lately?
Oh,and yes a team in Ballarat and Bendigo is not such a stupid idea either. It is called decentralisation.Something that is paramount for this country to survive. But then again who wants to engage in all of that country banter,CWA,and hospitality, boring if you ask me,let's just keep the top end of town happy. :-*

it is stupid idea, but what makes more sense is if a melbourne team creates a sister city type relationship with one of the bigger regional cities in victoria. there was a report a couple of months ago about north melbourne considering an arrangement with the city of ballarat re training camps, practice games, comunity work, etc. although north melbourne denied it, i think there might have even been a mention of renovating the north ballarat oval and playing some h&a games there in future years. imo, that idea is a real winner. they wouldn't be selling their soul (like hawthorn and richmond playing home games interstate) because it's only 100km from melbourne and most supporters could still attend.

We already have that type of arrangement in Bendigo with Essendon's seconds the Bendigo Bombers.
We haven't got the facilities . Our main ground -the QEO - fits about 12,000
we couldn't play our country music if the AFL games brought in AUSKICK and their scoreboard ads at half time plus the CWA sconemakers would get kicked out in favour of Spotless or some other ripoff merchant.
We wouldn't put up with that crap.
By the way Ex Richmond champ AAron James playing up here this year as part of his Annual Club changing - kicked 12 last week.
